Wii-volution

There's an interesting trend in gaming consoles lately: rereleases of the consoles in tinier, sexier forms. Will this happen to the Wii? It's already smaller than anything on the market, excluding handhelds. Also, what could/should/would be Nintendo's name for the upgraded system?

the wii is already pretty sleek and sexy :D and the smallest outta the 3, its only because sony makes such big beefy consoles that later they have to make a new, smaller version so people can put the console on a console, not the floor.

Yeah, thick as three dvd cases and slightly longer. Nintendo rereleases smaller versions with it's handhelds but I can't imagine them ever releasing a smaller Wii.

I dunno, Nintendo does have a fetish for shrinking down their already tiny consoles. (Pocket, SP, Micro, DS Lite) But even if a smaller Wii were never made, what would the Big N call it? Something crazy.

those are handhelds not consoles, the only rerelease nintendo does is new colors :D

Yeah, they only do handhelds that way. But if they were to I would suggest Wiibit. Like a bit of something? Maybe? Possibly? No?

The Mighty Wii and the Tiny Wii? Hmm... I still like the Wee Wii.

Before I begin protecting the PS2 and Sony, lets answer why Nintendo will not come out with a smaller Wii....

Wii is only 3 DVD cases stacked ontop of one another. Just barely enough room to fit the CD in to play the game.

As for big-beefy PS2...the original PS2 came with a large open space in the back, because Sony had not yet developed the HDD which is used for online gaming, or much like Xbox's internal harddrive, able to save games there -- instead of stupid Memory Cards (which by the way, Memory Cards have to be the biggest blunder of video gaming). That is why the original PS2 tends to be so thick...when they sliced it down, they just took out the empty space and the fan in the back (since the PSX overheated, a fan was placed in the original PS2) and figured out a different a way to keep it cool. The slim PS2 just eliminated the original flaws in the original PS2....making it better. And to call it bulky when you have the fat, plump big ugly Xbox, pushing outwardsn with its giant craptacular X logo?

MS did research and found out that the Xbox (which curved outwards) appeared unfriendly, bulky, and ugly. And overall, no one would want it to be in their living room. That is why the Xbox 360's appearance is the exact opposite of the Xbox....the 360 curves in, is a off-white color, and even its touch seems softer than the big, black plastic of the Xbox. They did this in order to try to make the Xbox 360 friendlier and for people to feel compelled to put it in their living room and to be not ashamed of its appearance. Plus, putting it in the living room where people will see it is like free publicity since the living room is (most likely) the most used room in the house.

ik they did that for the 360 but i didnt mention xbox above because they havent done a smaller rerelease. also the original ps2 the internet thing was bigger, where the slim one had it built in.

We can't forget about the Tardo controllers that originally came with the XBox... everytime  you use one of those, God kills a kitten.

the big beefy ones? those are my favorites, i cant stand the smaller ones, i got big hands... so techincally xbox had a rerelease of power supplys and controllers..

Microsoft is just not a big-picture sort of company. They do everything one-step-at-a-time. Not quite sure why I hyphenated that, but I'm sticking with it. It's really irritating how they take the same approach to all their products: release, fix a few problems, release patches or upgrades, fix a few more problems, rinse, lather, repeat...

I'm sure they've thought of that... bastards! But, if they actually put enough effort into a project that they wouldn't have to spend a year or two pulling it up from complete and total suckage, the world'd be a better place.

I really have nothing against Microsoft, I root for anything not $ony :-)

I like Microsoft more than Sony. Have any of you heard of the Wii60 campaign? I'd much rather purchase a 360 along with my Wii than a PS3.

i might jsut go Wii60 for Gears of War, or maybe PSWii/Wiis3 if the FF7 game is any good.

Surely they wouldn't make a smaller wii because of reasons the puff daddy mentioned, but if they did it would probably have some weird name that ounds like wii and is universal. If anything they'll bring out something to make it bigger like the game boy players or that cd thing for the n64.

It's already pretty small so I doubt it'll get any smaller. If they did add a GameBoy Player into the hardware that would be awesome. Then you could play every Nintendo video game!
