my source tells me animal crossing will be one of the big name games they show off for 2008. the possibility is still wide open for a late 2007 release but theyre prolly gonna do it in 08 so as not to crowd their big name titles at the holiday season.

from what i hear theres gonna be something like acheivement rewards in later games. theoretically you could say play a yoshi game, acheive a certain amount of points or get to a certain point in the game and unlock something like say an egg costume. i hear nintendo is looking very hard at the possibilites this and other things giving extra life and new aspects to the mii channel. also ive heard theyre working on an update to the mii channel. that is one great thing about the wii is the fact its firmware can be upgraded easily so they can add features and remove problems easily through an update.

yes, they can do practically anything they want via wiiconnect24 and/or the shop channel.

Title: Re: mii accessories
Post by: MysticGohan on December 30, 2006, 12:15:04 AM
yes it was the first to get it too, and also nintendo copied internet on handhelds from sony too!!!

the psp has no service like connect 24. just the option to update the firmware now and then.if you really wanna get into the internet thing everyone copied off of nintendo as the original famicom could dial up to other computers to read news and weather and even place bets.

No, that was the Super Famicom, it had "Sattelaview" which was more or less an "online" service

but they did copy internet on handhelds!!

no _wii_. it was the very first famicom. it had the port on the bottom so you could hook up a modem and then do the aformentioned features. ive studied the history of nintendo extensively so i know exactly what im talking about. if you have one of the early nes from the american launch you also have the port.

Let me explain it to the....er.... "less intelligent" among us. In a game called Animal Crossing, which has been on the Nintendo 64, Gamecube, and Nintendo DS, you can get clothes, hats, and other accessories for your character. In Animal Crossing for the Wii, your Mii will be your character. As you collect more clothing and other accessories, they will be added into the Mii channel to add to your Mii, so you can use those clothes in other Mii games like Wii Sports.

hey _wii_, hate to burst your bubble but dk was where mario got his name. it started with them trying to get a huge arcade title. they focus tested a game called radarscope with good results. arakawa, the head of noa at the time then ordered 2000 units. when they finally recieved them radrscope was boring in the public eye. this left them with 2000 radarscope units noone wanted to play. when arakawa phoned yamauchi in japan (the then nintendo pres of japan) who immediately chewed him out. yamauchi told them since the roms were interchangeable hed have someone ship another game to him and all they have to do is swap them out. so he told them he was giving the task of the game to save noa to an untested producer who had never made a game in his life, arakawa on his last leg asked who and got the name miyamoto. the game roms were then shipped to arakawa who saw the roms and realized it wasnt about killing things or futuristic stuff and admitted defeat. they decided to translate and package the game anyway, during translation of dk mario segalli came in and railed on them for not having the rent and promptly left. so when they needed to name the hero they simply remembered the landlords name and boom mario was born. incedentally noa had nothing to worry about with dk because they left one dk machine in a pub nearby and came back the next day to find 28 dollars of quarters in there. keep in mind this was the time when 1 credit = 1 quarter so that means 112 quarters were played which means 112 games were played which was remarkable for one day. noa would not exist as profoundly if it werent for miyamoto and donkey kong.

But his name wasnt mario until mario bros. (not super) came out. in the arcade version of donkey kong, at the beginning it says the names up the characters. Jumpman, pauline, and donkey kong. The name mario wasnt used until mario bros. So, quick review; Donkey Kong: Jumpman, Mario Bros and beyond: Mario

for around the fourth time your actually right, Jumpman was in the dk game in USA and it was going to in mario bros. but since the NOA's landlord was Italian and looked like "jumpman" the character was named after him for the American version of Mario Bros. and it caught on all around including (I think if I remember correctly) in Japan

sooooooooooooooorrry. the dk games that they personally localized in the first batch he was named mario. once dk became a break out success the later batches were localized as mario being jumpman. the original batch of 2000 dk arcade games translated by arakawa and his wife and fellow employees featured the hero as mario. it wasnt untill after the second batch and after they actually changed it to jumpman. man you guys really need to read "game over" it has the whole story confirmed by nintendo employess including arakawa and yamauchi themselves.
