1  Nintendo Wii / Wii - General / Re: Is Nintendo Focusing Too Much On Casual Gamers? on: July 23, 2008, 04:24:23 PM
In my opinion: No. Why? Well they are more than likely already working on a new Zelda title, along with a new Mario title for the system. Those are the two most recognizable of Nintendo's franchises. You must also remember that Nintendo is a corporation, built on the blocks of making money. Obviously, the sales and game-playing show that, in fact, Nintendo is making more money off WiiPlay than, well, Super Mario Galaxy.

2  Nintendo Wii / Wii - General / Re: How many years since the Wii came out? and I just played it first time today on: July 22, 2008, 11:13:52 PM
I've had mine since, well, the day it came out in 2006. Waited 13 hours in line to get it at midnight. I know...   Undecided

Oh well, they'll get over it once we see some Petz titles rushed out to work with the MotionPlus later this year and Ubisoft makes major bucks off a rushed title.

Yes because encouraging the early evolution of entertainment and control is a bad thing. That makes sense. Yes, let's just hold this technology for the next system. Let's hold game development back by years just so we can help the consumer save money.

Yeah, like that would ever happen. Where have you been, what, the past 10 years? More? The entertainment industry is really about two things: Getting as much money as possible and pleasing the consumer. Sure, you've got those get-rich-quick companies who put out horribly and only strive for one of those goals. Nintendo, on the other hand, usually swings both ways.

With the MotionPlus, we get to experience and help to develop new technology today, rather than waiting until 2011 or 2012 to actually get a new experience. With the MotionPlus developed and ready for release this year, imagine the new possibilities and shift of focus for the next Nintendo Console. They've achieved 1:1 technology, which is sure as hell going to be in the new system, so now they can shift focus from the controller and perfect new technology rather than just dumping the MotionPlus technology into a Wii remote and saying their done.

It makes no sense that you'd prefer them to just not sell it and hold it off. It's better to get it out into the hands of more users, especially those of nongamers considering the huge amount of potential in that part of the market. Adding new ways to play will always draw in new gamers, thus improving the market for all of us.

No matter what, the MotionPlus is coming, like it or not. Get over it. Don't buy it. Don't support it. It's all YOUR choice, not mine. It'll never be my choice. Flame wars are useless. Only the weak give into another's opinion or continuously bash those of others. I like the idea of the MotionPlus and welcome more change into the gaming market. Maybe you don't. Oh well.

MotionPlus isn't a microphone.. that's WiiSpeak.

Woops. *Shoots self*

Anyway, Wii Sports Resort shouldn't be any more than $40. $20 for the game itself (which probably isn't even worth that much) and $20 for the addon. If, for some reason, the MotionPlus is $50 alone, well, I've given up all hope on Wii from then on.

I doubt it will be less than $50.

It's wired. It's USB 2.0. It's a microphone. At the most, it'll be $30. Considering the reason they weren't putting it in with AC: CF, I'd have to say it will be $20 to $30.

Wii Speak is a USB microphone device...

And IGN now has plenty of hands-ons with Animal Crossing and such. I'm just extremely busy today to be posting. If I get around, I'll do it. Sorry...

With the conferance said and done we have a couple things to cover.

Shaun White Snowboarding

It seems that the balance board is going to have more uses then for Wii Fit and other fitness games. Shaun White's upcoming snowboarding game will be using the board as well. The game is being brought to the Wii by Ububisoft and has been designed from the ground up. The game is due out by the end of the year.

Animal Crossing Wii

Also coming to the Wii is a new Animal Crossing game titled City Folk that will have similar graphics to the last gen GameCube version. The game will utilize the message boa. .. .

Erm... Nintendo doesn't have much of a say in third-party games besides... well... allowing them to be on their console.

Making this attachment most likely ensures MORE 1:1 games, including new FPS's, RPGs, etc. With 1:1 now an option, just like we are now seeing a flood of balance board games, we will more than likely see a good amount of good balance board games.

Funny how people complain about something that is meant to improve your experience. Especially considering it comes with a game. And, honestly, it can't be more than $20, maybe even $10 considering the size. Get over it, enjoy it, or just don't support it. Nintendo's made their decision to create it and sell it, and it will more than likely sell like hot cakes with Wii Sports Resort, so, like I said, just don't buy it. It isn't required by an major games right now besides Wii Sports Resort, and will most likely be included with other games if they'd need it.

While I'm all for editing, what I just realized was this is the internet. I may not be sending you my article to get featured on the front page...as a matter of fact, I never did that. I would just write my own damn article in the forum and then meridian would read it and put it on the front page if it was worth while. So...good luck trying to mainstream everything, but right now...got to let shit crap slide like a big crap avalanche.

Would that not be considered a crapalanche? Intriguing...
11  Off-Topic / The Lounge / Re: Um... Hi everybody! on: July 11, 2008, 11:24:09 PM
True, but it is a lot better to get the news to everyone as soon as possible. A better way to get more articles is to have more than one member post them. I shouldn't have to have a another staff member publish them for me when, in fact, they would be online anyway and able to post newer news themselves.  Wink

I did three posts last night, so I hope that helps for now since I have work late and early the next two days.

Well I am an editor, so I could help out with E3. I'm hoping to be off of work Tuesday (since I'm getting HD cable service installed), and the Nintendo E3 conference is at 12 P.M. EST. I'll have it playing on my TV and posting news updates for those not able to watch it themselves.

As for now, though, I'll try to post whenever I'm off work (though I may be leaving the job anyway) and such. Hope it helps out.
14  Off-Topic / The Lounge / Re: Um... Hi everybody! on: July 11, 2008, 12:51:25 AM
Well the main reason no one comes here is because its... dead.  Until, somehow, the site gets back to what it was before it went down, all of the veterans, well, don't seem to care much for the website.
15  Off-Topic / The Lounge / Re: phail on: June 18, 2008, 09:20:57 PM
MG, you don't know the half of it.

1) That is NOT the reason he gave me admin status

2) You have no right to demote me or make excuses for my status

3) Quit whining

4) Even if I was the only one on here, it just shows my dedication doesn't it? Where were all of you after the first 2 weeks of relaunch? The only 3 people keeping the site alive were me, MB, and Puff Daddy.

Well I'd beg to differ about number four just because, well, I did post the first news story after the site relaunched....
