This is old BUT good news, and I wasn't able to find it on the forum and thought I would share it with everyone.

The Opera Wii Browser will be a nice addition to Nintendo's already changing look. With the virtual console offering classic Nintendo games to purchase with Wii points, Nintendo will also be inquiring the Wii points into having the ability to browse the internet with your Wii. How do you get the browser?, easy just go to the Shop Channel on your Wii and download it. Now for the cheap people in the world, I know there's alot, Nintendo will be giving a gift of offering the Opera browser for FREE. There's only one catch, it will be free until June 2007, still a good 6 months for the people not getting the Wii until Christmas!

If you do enjoy having the Opera Wii Browser, not able to live without it, after it expires in June 2007 you will be able to RE-download it. Like I said earlier it will cost you some Wii points, but not sure on how many points just yet.

Opera will serve the Wii's internet purposes just fine. If you watch the video on the official site, its really fluid and I love the zoom in and out feature. Java and flash capability, pretty impressive.

A Wii Points Card can be bought from retailers for $20.00 in America, or for 20 Euros/£20 in Europe. When converting from Wii Points to American dollars, 100 Wii points equals one dollar. Reggie Fils-Aime has stated that 2000 Wii Points is about $24.00 Canadian. Pricing was also given for Wii points in Japan, with 1,000 points being exactly equivalent to ¥1,000 ($8.37). Prepaid cards in Japan will be made available in multiples of 1,000, 3,000 and 5,000 points, with the latter coming bundled with a classic controller.[2] In all other regions, there will only be 2000 point cards.

I really like the simple design of the browser and if I like it enough after the trial period, and it doesn't cost 4,000 Wii Points, then hell, I'll buy it!

Also, I'd rather have the U.S. receive the different kinds of Wii Points prepaid cards. I'd definetly purchase the 5,000 point bundle because it would probably be cheaper than purchasing 2 2,000 prepaid cards and a VC controller.

I'm guessing forever. I don't see why you'd need to purchase a membership-like monthly fee because no one would purchase it.

I'm sure if it is 3 or 6 months, or even a year, no one is gonna purchase it. Nintendo shouldn't start to get greedy like Sony or Microsoft have. If they want to appeal to the non-gaming audience, then they need to make that browser a one-time purchase because non-gamers don't pay for their web browsers already on their computer, and requiring a payment for every year or less would definetly turn them away.

Yeah I'm pretty sure once you purchase the browser, that will enable you to use it forever. If you really think Nintendo is/will be greedy, then why will they let us use the browser for free at first? So if we will have to buy a yearly subscription,$5 isn't much, however I won't even bother with it.

When you buy something, you buy it forever. They would have already announced that if it was like buying time periods of it...
