!!M
« on: June 20, 2006, 08:13:57 AM »

Do the Nintendo executives go to the bathroom, take a crap, and then turn around and see what it spells out as their tightly, coiled a-la-surprise  bobs about in the toliet bowl water?

The "!!M" or Wii upside-down...at N-philes, and many other websites including

 http://www.wiiloaded.com/portal.php

Well maybe not many other sites...seeing as I cannot list them off. But I'm sure if you throw it into a search enginge, they'll be other sites as well.

So most agree that "!!M" is the messenger system or an IM like our beloved wii-volution site has informed us. Then they go onto say WiiPointer has something to do with the wii-mote or internet/friends system. WiiPointer could be the official name for the "wii-mote" or it could be the little pointer displayed on the screen when you go online with the Wii......go figure.

And WiiCulture? No rumors on WiiCulture. No one has any idea what this means. Its probably Nintendo making up a name for all the WiiManiacs to say when they actually do pry themselves away from the wii....I live WiiCulture....

Yeah? Or Perhaps not. Its probably something to do with the online thing. It seems that Nintendo has been so hush-hush about the Wii going online, that all three of these names which are all rumors could have been all made up or special terms for the Wii's ability to go online. It has the same likeklihood to be a rumor or truth, but seemingly truth as of now since many sites are covering it.

What do you think?

Actually I don't think !!M will be anything at all. I have big doubts that it's the name of any kind of messenger system. I don't even know where people are getting that idea at all. It's simply the name upside down and they didn't want anyone to take it.

As for WiiPointer yeah that's just probably another possible name for the wiimote.

And WiiCulture seems like the only one that I feel they'll ever use. That's most likely the name that will be used for an online community. Maybe like the WiFi website, or maybe something more like what Live is to the Xbox. That's the one I see has the highest possibility of being used.

Nintendo puts a trademark on all sorts of stuff that they've never used, just to keep people from taking them in case they do want to use them. They've trademarked hundreds of names to attach onto the GameBoy line and haven't used but very few.

Those aren't "i"s those are exclamation points, which is why I don't understand how people can assume that it's IM.

Even though I think !!M is just as dumb as the name Wii and that perhaps !!M is just some made up crap seeing as it is Wii upside-down.

But BubyDudy does shed some light...afterall Nintendo had to explain its rationale on "Wii"....what if "!!M" is another stupid name that they came up with that will later need some rationale as well like BubyDudy puts it "I IM."

It can't be a name because it would just be M. If they were to trademark it for the "i"s they would have trademarked IIM not !!M.

MetroidHunter, have you never heard of 1337 or H4x0r? (SARCASM) Nintendo's obviously trying to catch on to this hip phenomenon of bastardizing language with numbers and symbols to appeal to their demographic even more. (/SARCASM)

Yeah I hear ya. To me it's just for protection. What spawn said seems more realistic then it being the abbreviation of an IM service.

Sounds right, since I remember seeing an old list of gameboy like trademarks and copyrights that I've never even seen used. I'm willing to bet MadCatz'd gobble up any unused ones and Pelican'd do the same. F--- those sh-tty 3rd party companies. Too timid to step in and make their own system, so they leech off of the people who don't want to buy official products. I loathe them with a passion.

but they also had stuff that makes gaming simpler such as various controller sizes for people of different hand sizes, and comfort, and adapters that work with multiple systems.
