A 3rd Party company has released the first Rechargeable Battery for the
Nintendo Wii Wiimote Controller, charges up via USB Cable. Looks like you don't have to waste money on alkaline batteries anymore!

these are available on Ebay right now for about $15.00 shipped. Only problem is they are all shipping from hong kong so you have to deal with international shipments getting lost, translation and commmunication problems, etc...............

Why not just buy rechargeable batteries?
www.all-battery.com
has much better batteries (mAh ratings are much higher) and you can get a load of batteries and a charger for the same price as one of these. And it's domestic if you're in the USA.

Well I have rechargeable AA's in my remotes now. But they are quite a pain in the ass to have to change all the time with the controller glove having to be rolled up each time to get the battery door off. With one of these rechargeable packs I could just have them plugged in when Im not playing and they would always be charged. Plus then I could put the bulky battery charger away and have one less thing plugged into my power strip taking up space.

i have to support the plane rechargable batterys, sure they might be a pain in the ass for a while but if you think about it you can use those batterys for all things and not just for the wii!! :-)

i have to go with mg here. plain rechargeables in this case are better for three reasons.
1. you can find 2200 mah batteries in most wal marts. (mine are 2200)
2. you can use them in multiple devices.
3. it uses a usb charger so its going to be more of a pain to charge than saaaaay a standard charger not to mention if you use your wii's usb port youll end up slowing it down. (no bs, it will slow it down)
another problem is it wont work correctly on usb hubs so dont try. it may work w/o a prob but theres a much higher chance you could damage the wii-mote, the battery, or even the hub. those of you who have a computer with usb ports on the front should probably note that those on the front are usually a hub.

I would still rather have the battery pack. As for useing it in other devices I dont care, I already have AA rechargeable for those devices. And plugging it into the USB on the Wii when Im not using it would be a hell of a lot less trouble for me then Having to stop in the middle of a game all the time, remove my contoller glove, and swap the batteries out. And as for slowing the wii down, Its not processing any info from a charge cable simply drawing a miniscule amount of power to the battery so there is no chance of it slowing the Wii down. Besides I wouldnt be charging it while I was playing regardless so it wouldnt matter.

Wouldn't you have to roll up the glove at least a little anyway to get to the charging port on the pack? It can't charge through the attachment port on the remote, so it's gotta connect directly to the battery.
I suppose if you actually use those gloves and opening the battery compartment is a pain do whatever is useful for you. Me, I'll stick with my 2600mAh AA batteries.

charging through or processing power through a usb port does in fact slow down things. namely the 360. pelican made a usb fan stand for it and once used it utterly destroys whatever good framerate you have going on. then nyko had the intercooler (which i HIGHLY recommend) that latches onto the back of the power supply and blows air and doesnt slow the 360 down one bit. ive done a similar test using a loop back plug on the wii and it MAY have caused a miniscule amount of slowdown on the wii. truth is im not 100% sure it did but i am highly positive it did as it seemingly took it a longer time to load the splash screens.
not by much
but it did
thing is a loop back plug only takes the signal its given and throws it back into the port to test your ports for proper connectivity. since it isnt actually asking for its own signal or asking a complex one its not a true test but im not clear on what the wii would support so eh. as for the data processing and power, weather your charging a battery or processing data, its all frequencies. its the same reason the gba sp's charging port can be used for headphone usage. its all frequencies.

Well like I said before you wouldn't be able to play the Wii while it was charging anyway so it still does not matter.

why wouldnt you? thats not......*shakes head* if the usb port would not function while playing, what would the usb port for if not for using peripherals? nintendos not stupid enough to disable the usb ports while playing anyway. i plugged up a loopback plug during game play and it does indeed work. disabling ports for possible uses in gameplay would be and IS a very stupid idea.
