Uhh I don't see how it is surprising. Considering how far computers have come, and their ease of use, along with the tons of great games that just can be pulled off on consoles give them the cutting edge. And, while console prices are going up, PC prices are going down. Also, if you are a gamer, it doesn't cost hundreds of dollars, well thousands sometimes, to upgrade. Maybe 1,000 at once, but then you're set for awhile.

In my opinion, the PC will always be the leader in gaming, no matter what innovation is in place at the time. The PC controls just can't really be achieved on a console.

I was never a computer gamer. Was raised on consoles since I started gaming. So playing a game on a computer always feels foriegn to me.

However, if you do play computer games and console games and enjoy both and don't prefer one over the other then I can see why Cnet came up with what it did - especially if the Sony is a ten year console as Sony claims it is.

I was also raised on consoles, but it only took one month to push me over to PC back in 2000. Anyway, I like both consoles and PC. Just there are certain things that are for PC that shouldn't be for consoles and things for consoles that shouldn't be for PC. But since I like both, I can get enough of both styles of games!

You can't really compare a computer to a console, they really fill 2 different roles, even when gaming, and they are really for different kinds of people.

Yeah thats pretty right. I absolutely hate RTS games on consoles and I can't imagine a game like Rome Total War on the PS2. But then again, I could never imagine a game like Dynasty Warriors on a PC.

There is where you are wrong. Computers are basically high-end game consoles. The only main difference is that you don't have to install a game on a console (which might come to an end in the next gen). Actually, with Vista you don't really have to "install" a game immediately to play it. You can play "Tray and Play" and let it install as you play. Sure, it slows down, but rarely.

A PC is basically a console without it's menu.

Boy are you retarded. PC's are more gaming than the Wii or PS3 is. Seriously, do you even own a computer that isn't from 1980? Oh, and "fun little add-ons?" What the hell... Seriously, mostly all good PC games, and there are plenty more than on a console, are longer than flash games, if you didn't realize that. And I guess I should also inform your pre-1990's brain that most PC games have more depth than most high-rated console titles.

Ahaha...funny post.

Anyways, to your first comment. Technically, we already are installing games on our console. Such as virtual console games and Xbox Live Arcade games and various Playstation Store PSone titles. And if you want to be real technical, I guess you could say you download the game everytime due to the loading screens.

Ahaha...funny post.

I hope you meant that in a... good way...

Anyway, yea, I guess you could say we are already installing games onto our consoles. I didn't really think about it until your brought it up, though. It seems that consoles are becoming computers. UH-OH! ACCORDING TO PSYMONSTARK'S IDEA OF COMPUTERS, WE CAN'T PLAY GAMES ON THEM EXCEPT IF THEY ARE FOR FUN LITTLE ADD-ONS! *Gulps*

consoles are nothing but specialized computers. the only reason anybody thinks them different is because when you put a game in a console it works pretty much everytime without fail. the only reason behind that is because theyre made for that ONE SPECIFIC TYPE OF GAME! whereas computers have lots of different parts, different drivers and crap available to the entire pc market. a popular xbox mod was to change out harddrive and install windows on it and boom... theyd have a pc and console in one. this pretty much proves theres little to no difference in the two, just that theyre engineered differently.

Unless you made a mistake in your post, I'm taking it that you really didn't take the 3 seconds to read that...
