Article: Wii System Update
Earlier this morning, Nintendo sent out a system update for the Wii. The new update includes a few minor things, but is still pretty nice.



The update has added:

-A clock to the Wii menu

-The current weather conditions are now visible from the Wii menu

-The Shop Channel now has a search function



If anyone else notices any other additions or changes, please feel free to post a comment with the information.



The Wii System update is available now.

The Disc Channel has a different animation,and you can see news tidbits on the news channel while in the Wii Menu,and the "Today's Play History" letters you get are white,while everything else remains yellow-gold,and the Wii's blue light temporarily comes on every time you insert or remove a disc.

End of wii modchips... this is what nwiizone posted... :-| i never got this... i wonder if nintendo nows if u have a modchip or not...

For some odd reason, I'm digging the clock. I don't really like the Weather Channel update because all it shows is the current condition and not the temperature, which I would rather see.

Maybe you can change that via the Weather channel itself. Who knows! Maybe another update will come next month enabling that ability.

You can now use a USB keyboard on the Wii shop channel and the Wii message board. Too bad you can't use it on the Internet channel yet. :cry:

after I updated my Wii.... I can't seem to send or receive messages...

Well last night I tested out my USB keyboard and sent a message to my email. It showed up within minutes of it being sent, so there might have just been maintenance while you were trying to send or receive a message.

I brought that up because I couldn't run the news channel and the load time for the Shop Channel was horrendous; I never got into the Shop Channel. Anyone else getting this problem?

The only other difference I noticed was that when you send a message it will now say "sending message" instead of showing the message fly up and disappear. The USB keyboard works. the clock is handy and accurate, the shopping channel loads just fine... I like this update. If only you could use the keyboard on the Internet channel. :-D
