How much can a 2gb or 4gb sd card hold for the wii? 10 games saves or what i need to know what i should get.
or would a external hard drive be a better to buy?
and how much stuff will 512 flash memory on the wii get you in games saves and vc etc.?

I've wondered this as well. I would expect the 512 flash that comes in the system should be enough. I'm sure that's why they put that much, but I'm not sure.

et the external hard drive, its much more convient, pc and wii use
depending on games it may be enough, so for the casual gamer itll be enough, for people buying lots of vc games, or saving lots or games, i suggest either a 2gb+ sd card or a 80gb external hardrive (you could get smaller but 80 is ony like $70 where sd cards are a little pricy if you need more then 1. also the harddrive is better for a pc as it holds more space. so if you download hacked wii games (its ganna happen  then get the hd)

Well game saves are about 1 mb at the max. So thats a lot of game saves.
And for Vitual Console games, there more like this.
NES: 2 mb MAX
SNES: 20 mb MAX
N64: 89 mb MAX
Turbo graffix: Do not know
Genesis: 29 mb MAX

for regular games it might be enough but i don't think it can hold like sports game like Madden and Fifa or it wont hold a lot of them madden 07 used %35 of the spage on a 1019 memory card

Raza if you're talking about a Wii sports game, it will definately be larger than 512MB. However, if you're just wanting to use the internal 512MB to play vc games & game saves, you really don't need a SD card/External HD.
Just like spawn said, there will be devs out there to play "Wii backups", so I'll probably use my 120GB Western Digital external HD (which I got for $50/I love Target) for the Wii.

ill give you an idea on games and space needed
your average:
nes game is b/w 100 - 600 kbs
snes game is 1mb - 6 mb
genesis same as snes
turbografix 16 1- 10 mb
n64 16-100 mb
thats why alot of developers turned their nose up at the 64. while the cartridge reads faster and is easier to maintain it cant hold the amount of data a cd can by far.
heres a few n64 games for comparison
kirby 64 - 32 mbs
zelda oot- 32 mbs
star fox - 12 mbs
conkers bad fur day - 65 mbs
super smash brothers - 16 mbs
dont worry youll be able to store a good amount on the 512 internal memory at least for the initial usage
later you can upgrade.

so we will be able to hook up an external USB harddrive to the Wii? That would be awesome as I have a 20 GIG external just sitting here collecting dust with nothing on it .
