Yeah my thought is by the time they figure out how to run backups, there will be a good possibility there will be a way to use the usb for an external hd. Sorry if I sounded like it was official, I just have a wondering mind thats all.

How much can a 2gb or 4gb sd card hold for the wii? 10 games saves or what i need to know what i should get.
or would a external hard drive be a better to buy?

and how much stuff will 512 flash memory on the wii get you in games saves and vc etc.?

Well game saves are about 1 mb at the max. So thats a lot of game saves.
And for Vitual Console games, there more like this.

NES: 2 mb MAX
SNES: 20 mb MAX
N64: 89 mb MAX
Turbo graffix: Do not know
Genesis: 29 mb MAX
for regular games it might be enough but i don't think it can hold like sports game like Madden and Fifa or it wont hold a lot of them madden 07 used %35 of the spage on a 1019 memory card
Raza if you're talking about a Wii sports game, it will definately be larger than 512MB. However, if you're just wanting to use the internal 512MB to play vc games & game saves, you really don't need a SD card/External HD.

Just like spawn said, there will be devs out there to play "Wii backups", so I'll probably use my 120GB Western Digital external HD (which I got for $50/I love Target) for the Wii.
WAAAAA how did they sell a 120 gb external HD for $50 is this usd or cdn? how do u guys know they will work? they might not work with WII

as of right now nintendo has not confirmed or denied using a external hd for the wii via the use of usb but it isnt outside the realm of possibility.  nintendo as of right now has only confirmed that youll be able to use sd cards in your wii, the same kind that works in your digi cam and devides like that, its also kinda cool cause you can take pics on your cam and throw the card in the wii and voilla youre looking at your pics on the wii. it will be interesting to see how or if they will support external hds but honestly.......my gaming instincts tell me they wont and theyve only been wrong once and that was the dreamcast.
