Title: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: MetroidHunter on June 15, 2006, 03:37:45 PM
I'm really looking forward to the virtual console feature on the Wii. It'll give me a chance to play some of those games I never got the chance to. I was wondering which games will be the first you all download and puchase on the Wii's virtual console?

For me the games that I will definitely get are:
Super Metroid
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

And then some of the classics like:
Super Mario World
Super Mario Kart
Super Mario Bros.

Alot of super there. What about you?

Alot of old sega games for sure, Mario RPG too

How awesome would it be if they decided to emulate DC too????

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: MetroidHunter on June 15, 2006, 04:30:15 PM
There are alot of games I always wanted to play on DC but I never got one so that would be great. I'm hoping they will continue to get more and more companies to support the virtual console with their past games.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: spawn on June 15, 2006, 04:33:27 PM
omfg! DC emulation would be awsome, PSO, Sonic on DC, and thats about all i know. I have a DC but only a demo disc, $15 at a garage sale and the guy never found Sonic, only reason i bought it cause he had it :(

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: JoNoH on June 15, 2006, 04:34:42 PM
don't forget you can get DCs for cheap on ebay.  Most of the time they come with a few good games (like Soul Calibur or a Sonic Adventure game).  If you like story oriented RPGs - you'll love Shenmue.

Classic gaming is a hobby of mine :)

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: MetroidHunter on June 15, 2006, 04:40:21 PM
Yeah, I have had to turn to eBay many times to find rare games. Luckily and hopefully most of the ones I've wanted I can no get through the virtual console. They'll probably be cheaper too.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: MetroidHunter on June 15, 2006, 05:30:41 PM
I've never had an emulator just because of the legality and I have the systems available. I also find it more fun to play on the console not on the PC.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: meridianblade on June 15, 2006, 05:45:37 PM
I agree its more fun on the console, the only problem now adays its hard to get ahold of a decent old console, and if you do, its impossible to get ahold of the games!  :P

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: spawn on June 18, 2006, 11:54:35 PM
what console or games you looking for? ill hook ya up, or try ;)

gunstar heros is another game ill be grabing off the vc

Yeah, that's another good one. Didn't they make a Gunstar Heroes game for the GBA? I don't remember.

Two Crude Dudes for the Sega Genesis....the one level there are blue men leaping about with their genitals exposed as their mullets bounce up and down in full glory...they then clench onto the walls and squeeze out toxic crap that undoubtely lands on my ultra cool mohawk, I get pissed off, jump up and grab them and throw them across the screen and into the retarded midget hunchback vampires.

Good game.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: Marink on June 21, 2006, 11:20:29 AM
I'd definetely like to see Majora's Mask and Chrono Trigger, as I missed out on them the first time. Also, some of the Castlevanias that I didn't get to play, and the F-Zeros. Then there's the first two Mario RPGs.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: MetroidHunter on June 21, 2006, 11:31:29 AM
Thankfully I wouldn't need to get any of the Zelda games, because I have the Collector's Edition. Which was an amazing gift from Nintendo to me.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: Sharkspark on June 21, 2006, 04:34:41 PM
Castlevania... the one on PSX, what was it... SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT! Best Castlevania ever. Haven't played the DS one yet, so I can't compare the two.

Thanks to that rather funny video on Gamespot, I would just love to be able to play Abadox on the Virtual Console. :P

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: MetroidHunter on June 25, 2006, 08:25:03 PM
I don't think I've seen that video that you're talking about.

I really hope Square Enix supports the VC, I'd love to be able to play on the past Final Fantasys (before they moved to Sony's systems) on the Wii. They might be cheaper then what they would cost to buy when they come out for the GBA.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: spawn on June 25, 2006, 09:11:53 PM
i think we could get FF7 onto the VC off the playstation, id pay like $20 for it

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: Marink on June 26, 2006, 04:21:06 AM
MetroidHunter, I posted the video on the Nintendo Related Videos thread.

Spawn, I doubt  Sony would allow that, but I have the game anyway. So I wouldn't pay more to play it.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: spawn on June 26, 2006, 08:43:04 AM
if the new FF7 is any good im buying a ps3 just for that....not even getting FFXIII, just 7 :D

and its more or less up to square enix

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: MetroidHunter on June 26, 2006, 10:59:04 AM
Yeah, I'm sure Nintendo has come to them asking if they would. Or at least I hope so. Square Enix has many great games that were on past Nintendo consoles. I'm sure lots of people would buy their games on the VC.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: Marink on June 26, 2006, 02:26:47 PM
I thought Sony sort of owned the rights to all Final Fantasy games from VII up. :?

Then again, I'm not entirely sure. Could someone please refresh my memory?

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: MetroidHunter on June 26, 2006, 03:03:42 PM
Well I would assume that the rights go to Square Enix, because it's their game that they made. But if Square Enix would be allowed to because it was on a Sony system I don't really know. That's getting into the legality and stuff I don't even want to delve into.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: Marink on June 26, 2006, 03:25:09 PM
Well, I don't mind that much- as I own VII, VIII(not played yet), IX(not played yet) and X(not played yet). As long as Nintendo can get Chrono Trigger on it, I'll be happy. :D

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: Toopz on June 26, 2006, 05:14:32 PM
Sony doesn't necessarily own the rights, but they've definitely signed some sort of exclusivity deal with Square Enix. However, I suppose it's lost some of it's force considering the GameCube, GBA, and DS Final Fantasy games. That being said, I have no clue if the exclusivity for FF7 has expired yet (or if they even signed one, considering that Square picked the Playstation due to it's graphical prowess at the time).

Personally I don't really care if FF7 came to the vc. It hasn't held up under time at all hardly. Besides, I would rather see great games that I enjoyed from the Olden days such as Contra: Alien Wars, any of the Mario, Zelda, or Metroid series, and many more games. I wonder if the Japanese Turbo Grafx (PC-Engine as it was called their) will be supported. It had Castlevania: Rondo of Blood which was the precursor to Symphony of the Night. Speaking of Japanese systems, I would like to see the MSX working on the vc, simply for unadultered versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2.

My main want from the VC though is to play some of the games I missed out on, without digging into emulation (though I do that most of the time anyway :P)

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: MetroidHunter on June 26, 2006, 05:23:55 PM
I'd like to see it come out on the VC, just because it's a classic and I've never got to play it. Plus I plan on playing all the classic Final Fantasies in order seeing how they are coming onto the GBA. I've already beaten FFI and am playing FFII, I hope to finish it just in time for the release of FFIII for the DS.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: spawn on June 26, 2006, 10:15:43 PM
FF7 hold up under time? Almost every gamer in the world that had a playstation knows about FF7, if you ask my brother about contra hell think your talking about some disease. Normally i wouldnt care but i can find my FF7 discs and lost the PC copy i had :(

o well theres always FF7:DC for ps3

those old helicopter gun games on the nes :) those were awsome

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: Marink on June 27, 2006, 11:19:44 AM
Dirge of Cerberus for the PS3? Isn't it on the PS2?

Anywhooo, Nintendo aren't getting any of the proper Final Fantasys after VI. Sure, Square-Enix are developing games for them, but it is only things like Tactics Advance or Chrystal Chronicles. None of the big titles, although they obviously get the first six.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: MetroidHunter on June 29, 2006, 11:48:43 PM
I absolutely love Final Fantasy Tactics Advance it's my favorite GBA game. Well tied with Metroid Fusion. But I wish they would make another. As for Crystal Chronicles, well at least we are getting Square Enix support on the home console. It's better than nothing I guess.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: Marink on June 30, 2006, 10:43:00 AM
Who said that was a bad thing, MH? :?

I was just replying to what Toopz said about Nintendo getting some games developed by Square-Enix. Yeah, we are getting some pretty decent ones, but not the kind we were talking about.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: MetroidHunter on June 30, 2006, 09:09:25 PM
Yeah, it's not a bad thing. I thought Crystal Chronicles was an okay game. I mean if you had 4 GBAs, 4 connectors, and 3 friends who were willing to play then I'm sure it would be great. But that's too much stuff to have just to have fun! I want a hearty fun single player experience too. But luckily the next ones will be WiFi enabled so even if you don't have that and enough friends you can get people from online.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: Marink on July 01, 2006, 01:58:44 AM
Yep, that will be pretty awesome. Hopefully, one would not have to be forced to get someone elses Friend Code, like we were in Animal Crossing: Wild World.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: MetroidHunter on July 03, 2006, 04:27:51 PM
I know Nintendo is going to do the same friend code thing with the Wii but I don't know if 3rd parties will have to or not. Do you have to get a friend code for third party DS games? If so I would expect it to be the same for the Wii.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: Marink on July 04, 2006, 10:14:53 AM
The only DS game that you have to get a Friend Code for is Animal Crossing: Wild World. Tony Hawks American Sk8teland doesn't require this. That's the only online third party title to be released for the system, at the moment.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: MetroidHunter on July 04, 2006, 10:50:03 AM
What about Lost Magic?

I would assume that if the third parties weren't using the friend code system then they wouldn't on the Wii. So hopefully we won't need it for Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers.

Back on topic: Another VC game I'd like to get is Punch-Out. I've heard so much about it, yet never played it.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: Marink on July 04, 2006, 11:04:53 AM
Is Lost Magic online compatable? :?

I was talking about the DS version of FF:CC, by the way.

Anywhooo, I'd love to be able to download Kid Icarus as well! :D

Yeah, you'll just download it onto the flash memory inside the Wii I would assume.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: Mrfudge on October 31, 2006, 01:19:06 PM
Because Rare have joined Microsoft I don't think it's very likely that Goldeneye will come out on Wii, or Perfect Dark either. It's a bummer, but hopefully some of the new Wii FPS's will be as good.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: Vander on November 02, 2006, 11:50:27 AM
what! NO Perfect Dark!?! aww man, my friend has the game and I've played it before, it was awsome. and no goldeneye either? that's a rip off. 2 great games not on the Wii. I hope Jet Force Gemini is avaible to download. you've most likely never heard of it, it's a hard to find N64 game (and it's one of my favorites)
I also hope Snowboard Kids is avaible, I borrowed it from my friend once and it was awsome. I highly reccomend that you download it onto your Wii. anyway, these are the games I'm going to download by the end of the year.

NES
Mario Bros.
The Legend of Zelda
I want: Super Mario Bros. 1,2,3

SNES
none yet
I want: Super Mario Kart and some more Zelda and Mario Bros. games

N64
none yet
I want: Perfect Dark, Snowboard Kids and maybe Super Smash Bros. origanal

Genisis
No way, Sega is dead

Turbo Grafx 16
I've never heard of this console, so why get a game from it?

I suggest right now go to Ebay and buy a N64 right now, it's the best console.
(of course untill the Wii comes out

How about none....

Old games are fun. Old games for $5 or higher can blow me. This stuff sits around most peoples rooms collecting dust....and if it ain't doing that, its in the EB junkie game bin for less than 99 cents. Nintendo is dicking us over on this one.

second one, i would know. i assume you mean the 2v2 one where one person had to dodge obstacles while the other had to speed up and slow down. that game was awesome in so many ways. i remember shell shock, and the one with the sumo while u bounced around on balls.

Definately.  The n64 games that we need to see NOW are:
Ocarina of Time
Majora's Mask
Paper Mario
Donkey Kong 64
and Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, and Goldeneye if we can get licencing from Rare LTD.
CURSE YOU MICROSOFT!!! :em-18:

funny you should say paper mario, i just picked that up again on Project 64 (n64 emulator). and in addition to that list, we also need CBFD (you all know what game im talking 'bout )

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: Balisong on February 11, 2007, 09:19:51 PM
Chrono Trigger. Makes any and all Final Fantasy games look like a high-school project in terms of story and battle system anyway. (At least in the same era, I'm sure some fanboys will try combating this)

And is it just me or would you rather there be an add-on for the original SNES/N64 controllers to work with VC games? The C-stick on the WaveBird is an awful thought at playing the original Smash Bros. with.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: PsymonStark on February 12, 2007, 12:14:06 AM
what were the c-buttons used for in SSB? if they were just like quick smash attacks, i dont think many people used it.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games

the game i would want the most would have to be illusion of giia for the SNES

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: starlitalpha on February 12, 2007, 07:42:25 AM
the c-buttons on the 64 super smash brothers was another jump button, and i liked it, and its mostly why i wasnt so hot about the gc version because you HAD to use the analog stick to jump. grrrrrrr.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: PsymonStark on February 12, 2007, 10:01:27 PM
not true!! if you were a gamer at all, you would know that X and Y also made you jump!

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: starlitalpha on February 13, 2007, 02:21:03 AM
yeah but x and y are not really in that good of reach on the good old cube. i personally thought the giant a button was one of the dumbest ideas ever for a controller. not including the atari jaguar number pad crap. that my friends was the WORST controller EVER. only thing to give it any competition is the phillips cd-i which wasnt far off from it. if anyone who had a hand in the atari jaguar doesnt have a bird sitting on their lips constantly crapping in their mouths, there is no justice in this world. as we know, there is usually no justice in this world. the only good game on that system was attack of the mutant penguins. as much as theyd like us to believe it, everyone could look at the atari jaguar in action and see that it isnt 64 bits. wellll maybe it is. but 60 of those bits are being used to take a dump on your face for buying something so stupid. gunpei's virtual boy may have flopped badly but it didnt drop like the jaguar did. poor gunpei......

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: starlitalpha on February 13, 2007, 01:42:53 PM
i havent heard "soon", but it is supposed to be coming out for the wii. personally they better have two things going on for this game to be bought, FIRSTLY it cant cost 50 bucks. thats just a freaking rip off.  SECONDLY it better be a lot more complex than the one you play online. ive heard the wii will be getting an original game channel and that it may come out on there. IMHO they better have something more than the simple crap we see online on websites or ill be skipping that one.......not even sure why this is even coming for the wii.

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: Balisong on February 13, 2007, 01:59:50 PM
Yeah... in Super Smash Bros. on N64, C-buttons jumped. Since the C-stick replaces the C-buttons in the N64 VC games now (or right analog on the Classic Controller), I can only assume the same for SSB. Since I'm a button-jumper myself, this would be awkward and frustrating.

I understand their logic behind the giant A button on the Gamecube controller, but there was no reason to make it that big. Just a slight annoyance is all, since it's one of the most comfortable controllers to hold in your hands ever. (In my opinion of course :P)

Title: Re: Most Anticipated VC Games
Post by: starlitalpha on February 13, 2007, 04:45:32 PM
i cannot in any way see the sense in the giant a button. some of the greatest controllers rely on symmetry including the super nes buttons! when you scatter the buttons you destroy the symmetry and the feel of the controller. the only controllers i feel that dodged this problem was the 64 "claw", and the wii-mote. symmetry can be a problem in itself , otherwise the atari jaguars controller wouldve ruled.

The reason the GCube had differend sized, shaped and colored buttons was so that people could tell them apart easilly.  That was Nintendo's first step towards getting the nongamer, but it didn't exacty work...

Exactly. They tried focusing the game around the A button mostly, and B, X, and Y being "sub-buttons." The biggest way this messed me up is A button shoots your gun in Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, where it would make you crawl in the Playstation versions (since X is on the bottom.)

That was their logic behind the thing. It wasn't a brilliant idea by any means, but it didn't break their bank.

HA!!! someone else agrees!!! actually between that and the totally lifeless voice acting thats why i couldnt play mgs the twin snakes. the controls felt off, the game didnt feel corrct in the mgs 2 engine to me, and when you play the voice acting in the twin snakes next to the acting in the original mgs it sounds terrible. noone had an accent, noone put feeling into the role except david hayter, i just didnt feel any emotion. i doubt im alone in that either. ps1 mgs all the way.

It's nowhere near as good a remake as the first Resident Evil on Gamecube.

I also thought it was weird having the action scenes re-directed by the guy who directed the Devil May Cry scenes (his name escapes me now,) even though Kojima produced it. It was pretty cool to see MGS in a different take though, a lot more "HOLY $H!T!!! DID HE JUST DO THAT?" action sequences. The voice acting was off, but at least they re-did everything, instead of just ripping it off the PSX version. It shows they care. :)

It was a brilliant idea, but they could have put a lot more thought into it. Oh well.

true dat. i didnt like the fact snake got hammered by the tank shell in the first raven confrontation (leaving no damage AS WELL!) when in the ps1 version he ended up dodging it. that aside silicon knights were the guys behind it as well as eternal darkness. its a shame theyre focusing on the other two consoles this generation....... maybe they will come to their senses sometime in the future.

Someone prolly already said this but I'd love to see Tecmo Bowl on the V to the C.

tecmo bowl is a SHOE-IN. im not so sure that will happen as tecmo and nintendo arent the best of friends. tecmo was sued by nintendo for making bootleg games for the nes. its quite funny actually. thing is they even sold tetris for the nes before they had gotten the license because of massive misscommunication. later they never even got the license to do tetris so the tetris cartridges bearing tecmos name are actually pretty rare and if you find one i would hang on to it. this does bring up a good point though. the vc relies on partners allowing content to be licensed or used by nintendo. alot of companies who promised support for the vc have yet to release ANYTHING and im getting sick and tired of waiting for chrono trigger on the vc lol.

oh yeah... double dragon. this does bring up a good point in the virtual console debate.
should we keep the glitches in a game or take them out? anyone who played double dragons knows theres a lot of glitches in it but would nintendo rub those out first? personally i think they should be left in there and i was rather upset that they removed the minus world glitch on subsequent versions of the original mario brothers. i think ill make a topic about this.

I think Earthbound was stated, as for the other games in the Mother series, I don't think so.

It would be awesome to get those games though.

which boss? if youre talking bout evil ryu, you need to block more than dodging. if he hits you with the attack that knocks you off balance, roll backwards. you should use the flying swallow attack as it comes in pretty handy here, the izuna drop works extremely well too, get close and press xyxxxy to really lay down the hurt, dodging his magic and his other unblockable attacks will cause you the most problems. if this isnt the right guy, msg back with the name of the guy and i'll tell you how i dispatched them.... personally i hated evil ryu........

woah....EVIL ryu?? is that at the end of the game?! i was talking about Alma. she's such a pain in the ass. my bro killed her by cornering her. it took me at least 50 tries to kill her.
