Title: Animal Crossing
Post by: Puff Daddy on June 14, 2006, 11:37:33 PM
I've played many pointless games in my time. From the heartfelt adventure with no real purpose of Harvest Moon to the bullet riddled zombie known as Beyond The Grave from Gungrave....yet I have never questioned their existence, because I never cared nor had the time to question their purpose.

However, now is a different time. A time that is being wasted by writing this meaningless post about what I assume to be a meaningless game, Animal Crossing. There's a neighborhood full of retarded looking animals with oversized heads and a dimple on both cheek for an extra shot of cute, and then theirs you. So...my question is: what's the point?

Since I'm pressed for time, posts are going to be summaries of what the game is about and why its so fun. Bonus points to those who can sum the whole thing up in 3 words or less, anything more is unnacceptable --- seeing as I work 40+ hour weeks and am accumulating a debt of sleep, if I see a paragraph (much like my own, in fact as of now, I am in a deep sleep and just sleep typing....you know, kind of like when you were 5 years old and slept walk to the closet and pissed all over your pop's shoes....yeah like that but typing) more than three words I will fall into a deep slumber.

It is Nintendo's Sims: much more funny, much more enjoyable, much more..."Nintendive".

It isn't a game that will write history but it is good to spend your free time. Like in nights when you get to bed and want to do something before you sleep...

or if you dont like the game, you can stare at the case wishing it was better

'AC:Wii' i hope can go online, itll make the game so much better :D im the only one around me that plays AC so i cant really visit other peoples towns :(

I love Animal Crossing it was the main reason I wanted a DS. WiiConnect24 should make the Wii version of AC interesting. I like the idea that there could be new furniture updates sent across it while you aren't even playing that and sending letters to friends from your own town.

And you have the added bonus of real axe and net swinging with the Wii controller!

dont forget fishing!

AC:Wii has the potential to be an MMO without actually being an MMO :D thanks to wiiconnect24

Okay...so Animal Crossing is the charmful animal cousin to the Sims.

I always enjoyed the Sims, especially the newest Sims 2 that is out. My brother is addicted to it. But thanks for all of your input on what Animal Crossing is. I never played it. I suppose you could say I am deprived.

And the way you guys make the game sound with the ability to go online only makes me more curious to check out exactly what it is. I'll probably do some research on it. But seeing as the announcement of AC on the Wii is still new, the information is probably limited. Once again, thanks to everyone!

Aren't there any shops that give you the chance to try a game before buying it?

Title: Re: Animal Crossing

video rentals, hollywood video, blockbuster

I said that to tell NTTA that he can give it a try before buying it...

ik, but how it was worded was asking if places even rented games

Animal Crossing is like marmite. You eiher love it or hate it. Simple as that. Some people cherish every cutesy second of it, whereas others will get bored of it in a couple of minutes or so.

I have come up with a rather neat(if not quite obvious) idea. What if you could download different content, like more Mr. Resetti rants? Just imagine how great this would work with the Wii's ability to recieve various game content. You could download birthday reminders as well, so that you know when to start buying gifts for people. Perhaps you can even increase the size of your town, and open up your own little shop. The possibilties are endless! What are you lot's take on this idea?

Animal Crossing can even become Nintendo's first MMOG! Lots of Animal Crossing Countries, lots of towns, lots of people/animals. You could be a fisher, a bug catcher, a gardener, that would rock!

P.S: I have a sick neighboor in my AC:WW game, is there any chance he dies?

Title: Re: Animal Crossing
Post by: MetroidHunter on June 21, 2006, 01:11:04 PM
That's right, I didn't think about that. Animal Crossing probably will be Nintendo's first MMOG. Hopefully it won't be the last. *imagines MMORPG Pokemon*

I don't think he can die, he just won't walk around outside his house for awhile. Give him medicine from Nook's store. You'll need like 3 of them to make them better. They normally give you a gift.

MMO Pokemon would definitely kick some major butt. I've had another idea about that series, too, though: Pokemon Tactics. The ranges of attacks and speed stats actually would matter in this game!

That sucks! He is my worst neighboor, I felt really bad when I realised I helped him with my medicine..

Lol, I reckon that the axes should be put to good use in the next game. If you know what I mean...

Yeah I had a pink panda bear that I despised, I tried not talking to him not even introducing myself to him and as far as I know he's still there. Maybe I should do the opposite and be really nice.

LOL @ MarinK, I already tried this usage but nothing happened...

I heard that somehow you can enter Razzeti's house, does any of you know exactly how?

Title: Re: Animal Crossing
Post by: Puff Daddy on June 23, 2006, 08:29:36 AM
Mr. Razetti? Huh?

You guys are talking about the game and not explaining it to the guy who posted this post and was wondering what the heck the game was about!?!?!!!!

So please explain? And now you can kill off guys if you don't help them? Will other move in then?

Title: Re: Animal Crossing
Post by: Marink on June 23, 2006, 10:45:32 AM
BubyDudy- To enter Mr Ressetti's house, you must reset the game without saving twice and Mr Ressetti will show you a lesson in 'pain'. Now run around with the shovel, bashing rocks until you find one that cracks. Hit it again, enter the hole and- tada- you're at home with the mad mole.

Puff Daddy- You cannot kill anyone, as this is one of Nintendo's family friendly games, but neglect them for long enough and/or visit somebody else's town and sometimes animals will move out.

Anywhooo, I suggest renting this or borrow/play a copy of somebody's. As I said in a previous post, Animal Crossing is like marmite(in a non-greasy/non-edible way).

Woah, I've never heard of getting into Mr. Ressetti's house. I'll definitely have to try that. Do any of you know what's inside?

Another thing I noticed is when you donate. There is a green feather and, for me, it looks irrelevant with donations. Any ideas?

I am also sad because "Vesta", my beloved neihgboor, left my "LakeTown". Now my best one is "Mallary", an elephant. Hope she marries me! :P

Title: Re: Animal Crossing
Post by: MetroidHunter on June 27, 2006, 12:48:22 PM
I read somewhere that as you donate once you reach a certain amount donated you'll be given a gift like a feather. I think they are just useless items to show how much you've given. They are sort of like the items you got for having so much saved up in the bank in the last one.

Title: Re: Animal Crossing
Post by: Puff Daddy on June 27, 2006, 10:46:31 PM
So...

No mass murdering of neighbors. Give out charity and recieve a useless, green feather. And get married to an overweight elephant.

I'll take your word for it and get it...at least to rent. Which is better, the DS version or GC? Or should I wait for the Wii version to be released, since from what I hear most of them seem to be the same?

Title: Re: Animal Crossing
Post by: MetroidHunter on June 28, 2006, 12:27:23 AM
The only thing the GC version has over the DS version is that you can play NES games, but they are hard to get, so if you just rented you probably wouldn't be able to get maybe but one. I like the DS version better because it has more furniture, more features, online play, and is portable. All those features outweigh the loss of the NES games. So I'd go with the DS version.

Title: Re: Animal Crossing
Post by: Marink on June 28, 2006, 10:31:32 AM
Firstly, you can't marry the animals(that would just be plain creepy)!

Secondly, I prefer the Gamecube version, solely because of the inclusion of the NES games. Without them, the game disc probably wouldn't last more than 3 minutes in the console! Saying that, the DS version does have online play. I would suggest renting both and choose which one you think is better(if any). Obviously, we can't tell you what to think.

Title: Re: Animal Crossing
Post by: MetroidHunter on June 29, 2006, 11:25:09 PM
The NES games are nice, but there is so much more stuff in Wild World. One of the best things for me was how you no longer have to mail in fossils you can just take them to Blathers. That right there made the game 5 times better.

Title: Re: Animal Crossing
Post by: Marink on June 30, 2006, 10:09:45 AM
The Gamecube version is miles better, in my opinion. As I said before, without the inclusion of the NES games(and Nintendo-style furniture) I would simply neglect it as much as I have with the DS version. I think that game only lasted a couple of days in my DS before being replaced...

I might play it again sometime, for online wifi play, though. However, the fossils mean very little, if not nothing, to me.

Title: Re: Animal Crossing
Post by: MetroidHunter on June 30, 2006, 09:00:59 PM
I love collecting fossils in real life so it was a big plus for me. Oh and there is Nintendo furniture in Wild World. I believe much more. Sometimes they give it as a gift or you can just buy it from someone who has hacked the Japanese version. You can even get like Mario's flagpole and stuff.

Title: Re: Animal Crossing
Post by: Marink on July 01, 2006, 01:47:36 AM
Yeah, but in the Gamecube version you get Mario's flagpole, a "?" block, a large starman, a large coin, a Mario statue, A Luigi statue, an Arwing, an N64 logo and loads, loads more! It's not the quantity, but the quality that counts! :D

I'm sorry, but you can't change my mind.

As I said before, Puff Daddy's the one that wants to know which is better. So just try both(if possible) and choose which one you prefer.

Any of you know what the "pitfall seed" is?

Title: Re: Animal Crossing
Post by: MetroidHunter on July 11, 2006, 09:23:32 AM
It's a small white sphere with a red exclamation mark on it and when you bury it in the ground if someone walks over it they fall into a hole and have to wiggle to get out. The first time I fell into one it was behind a tree and I couldn't see what was wrong, I thought the game was messed up and was about to restart!

I personaly like the idea of the WiiConnect24 like how you can visit your friends house and stuff i hope they will take advange of that feature on other games

Title: Re: Animal Crossing

I'm sure they will. I'd be pretty disappointed if they didn't use it for other games.

Title: Re: Animal Crossing

What I would like to see in the Wii Animal Crossing is the ability to steal items from other peoples' houses, and then lose them with a pitfall trap. :D
