Hold on to your controller! Don't trust the strap.
There's been complaints of peoples straps breaking, leading to a broken TV. Sounds like a joke, but hear me out. The more you play, the sweatier your hands get leading to loss of grip.

so many things that can go wrong. and if you read the little manual, you can also put that you may experience flashbacks if you are 1 in 4000  :-P

This is why they tell us to read the manual before playing. Even if you just scan though it, its better than nothing.

What alternate dimension are you from? Grab that bad boy and go at it. How dumb can you be to let a remote fly out of your hand? Thats retarded. Don't give me this sweat excuse crap. Because I got a 3 step solution:

Pause.
Wipe.
Play.

And the Wii is picky? Hm...great. Now I will have to deal with my girlfriend's pickiness and the Wii's? One of them is going to have to go...

If people would actually read the manual, then we wouldn't see all these videos of people throwing the control through their plasma screens. I think these are good tips :-)

True that. But I still say using common sense will do just as well.

I personally always look over the manuals before setting up a console or playing a game. If anything it normally gives you some insight to the game. If you jump right into it you might miss something...

if anyone is dumb enough to drop a controller, let them deal with it. If someone's hand gets sweaty by barely swinging it, their problem. how about just wearing gloves when playing the Wii games? It's winter anyways!

Its natural selection. If you are ignorant enough to hurl your remote through a $2000.00 television, then you obviously don't deserve to own that tv.

It must've been a good throw. I haven't got a Wii yet but I can tell if my wiimote flailing went awry  it'd smash upon impact on my tv unless it was like a dart.

I haven't gotten to a point where I almost threw the remote into the TV.  I would have dropped it if not for the strap, but it all happened because of the strap.  I was going to grab a drink can with my right hand (being right-handed and not confident in my ability to grip aluminum with my left) so I was grabbing the remote with my left hand.  I forgot about the strap and pulled and it didn't keep coming so it came out of my left and but, because of the strap, didn't fall to the floor.

I was playing Wii Tennis in socks on a hardwood floor and almost fell.  Yes, that was my own fault.  I would have been a pretty good statistic and a possible Darwin Award winner. 

I wasn't saying that I thought any of you couldn't handle the Wiimote, my intentions were to give you precautions of possible problems. It's better to be safe then sorry.

On a side note, I'm sure this only applies to plasmas. Your Wii remote will just shatter on the traditional television.. probably.

My hands sweat quite alot while playing a game. If it were the case of pause, wipe, play I would have to wipe my hands every 10 seconds, and I think that would get very annoying. Now even though my hands do get sweaty, I still don't see how the Wii Remote will fly out of your hands. Because of my hands perspiring so much, I decided to buy the gloves for the Wii Remote which is really nice and soft and you don't have to wear some stupid gloves on your hands.

My hands sweat a lot too. I'm sure the controller is gonna explode in the tv or fly over the window :P

They should make some kind of highly breathable gloves with diffrent game designs on them like zelda and stuff, Would be pretty cool but might look dorky.

My T.V is pretty old, its a standard 32" Bush, it's fucking big, and fucking heavy, so unless I swing the remote with the power of Heman my T.V probably won't break.

my hands dont really sweat much since sonic 2 when i was much younger. one of those videos floating about is actually a staged video to try and discredit the wii so dont believe them all.

people, just wear gloves! Its why people like Mario and Sonic don't get sweaty  8-)

I hear that.  They have those "magic stretch gloves" out there for $1 (canadian, so like 83 cents US).  I'm using those and they work perfectly.

anyways, the controller slipping out of your hands is kinda dumb. and if it does slip out, why does it have to hit the TV? if you swing it, it flies to the SIDE, not the FRONT

yeah but it WILL slip to the front, considering that in fishing, you do a vertical motion, not a horizontal one.

more importantly, how gross is it that someone's hand gets so slippery with sweat that you can't hold on to something?
besides, you could just stick some grip tape to it and problem solved

this only happens with sweaty people, anyways. has it happened to YOU yet? yeah, you reading the post! it only happens to big-handed, warm & sweaty players! not YOU!

My hands don't sweat while playing any game. Now my heart races when I'm in a huge battle or something like that. But lets not go there. Playing the Wii 7 hours on the 19th? Yeah my hands sweated for a little bit, but I took a few short 5 minute breaks. Why? Because I do need some rest time and I don't want my hands to get too sweaty. Now I didn't know about wrist strap breaking, but I didn't want my Wiimote to look like crap from sweat.

My word of advice.

Take breaks for a change!!!

your advice was good, except one little part- the 5 minutes not playing the Wii. lol, but still, just wear gloves or any other way to hide the sweat!
