Actually, that is a good question.  I was going to say that they shipped a million worldwide, but it clearly shows that it was all shipped to the U.S.

So where the hell did it all go?

I'll have to do some research on this one...

I bet the other 400,000 got handed out in goodie bags to celebs. at parties. You know how they always get the "small" $20K bags with gifts. I remember the PS3 launch party, each person got 3 PS3's in their bag or something like that.

You also have to count the displays they use in stores, as I'm told that the store doesn't have to purchase the display, it gets sent for free in the shipments... Plus plenty get handed out for free to celebs as posted above. Then you have the ones that Nintendo has to keep to replace bad Wii's. This number gets counted in the total systems made and shipped to the US, even if not all go on "sale".

According to my friends dad who is the store manager at my local EB Games and when I worked at Best Buy, they get their displays for free. Its listed as a 'gift' for selling/promoting the system. I mean its a lot of free systems that Nintendo loses money on, but the advertising and promotion is great. A lot of people don't know much about the Wii, this gives them a chance to play it and see it in action. So, it helps sell more...

yeah, but the problem is their not giving us enough to sell- they need at least 500 per store or something!
