Title: Gameboy Micro Post by: Thrillho on June 22, 2006, 07:39:39 AM In a recent interview, Iwata talked about how bad the micro did as a whole. I know it is pretty much a useless console (only plays GBA), but I happen to own one (the famicom one), and was wondering if anybody else here does?
Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: meridianblade on June 22, 2006, 08:05:40 AM I don't see how its useless if it plays games, I always liked it even though I never owned one.

Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: Thrillho on June 22, 2006, 08:17:28 AM its more of a style thing i guess, i was a sucker for it because its retro-looking..

I was just thinking the other day of how great it would be to just throw that into my pocket instead of the SP or DS. Maybe if they lowered the price I'd get one.
Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: spawn on June 22, 2006, 10:40:26 AM i like the GBM ;) but i have an GBA, and no games for that, so i decided not to get a pocket size version.
Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: Marink on June 22, 2006, 03:44:59 PM I'm happy with my GBA, so I won't be buying a Micro(then again, soon nobody will be able to 8O). The same goes for the DS and DS Lite.
Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: MetroidHunter on June 22, 2006, 03:51:15 PM Yeah, I just wish Nintendo wouldn't do all the rereleases and just make it good the first time. I bought an SP but the Micro just wasn't worth all the money.
Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: Marink on June 22, 2006, 04:00:27 PM It's all really just one of Nintendo easy money making schemes, along with the many re-releases of the Pokemon games.
Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: spawn on June 22, 2006, 06:18:45 PM rereleases of pokemon? please elaborate
q for those who have/sen in RL, is the screen easy to see? or is it to smal to play on? Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: Marink on June 23, 2006, 10:15:37 AM Quote from: spawn";p="1234 rereleases of pokemon? please elaborate Certainly. It all started with Pokemon Red and Green, but the Green version was renamed to Blue in english. These games were brilliant and made Nintendo a lot of money, so they decided to produce Pokemon Yellow. Now, Yellow is basically just a remake of Red/Blue, but with the added little yellow rat as the starting Pokemon. A few years later, along came Fire Red and Leaf Green- which are simply ports of the originals, with an extra little tweak here and there. Go back a few years, you will have Gold and Silver, which had the same port treatment(I'm now talking about the Crystal version, for those of you that don't know), only with the inclusion of the Battle Tower. Equally, Ruby and Sapphire was soon put into another little green cartridge(Emerald). Hope that cleared things up. ?:P Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: spawn on June 23, 2006, 11:40:03 AM i was thinking releases as the same exact thing
gold/silver/crystal in the US add more areas, a new starting town, and more pokemon, items, new elite 4, new moves, and 8 more gyms. fire red and leaf green are basically remakes with a new map/town same with ruby and saphire. although yellow want jsut a remake it was made to play the storyline more as pikachu followed you like in the show, and u could catch the 3 starters from blue/red Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: Marink on June 23, 2006, 11:49:13 AM They have the same locations, pokemon, etc. So in that sense, they are rereleases.
And since when did Crystal add "more areas, a new starting town, and more pokemon, items, new elite 4, new moves, and 8 more gyms" to Gold and Silver? :? :? :? :? Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: spawn on June 23, 2006, 01:48:16 PM it didnt, but gold, silver, and crystal, did that.
Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: Marink on June 23, 2006, 03:20:21 PM Did you actually ever read my post? I never said Gold and Silver didn't!
Anywhooo, just think of it this way: Yellow= R&B/G(except, with the inclusion of the stupid little yellow rat that follows you around) FR&LG= R,B/G&Y(without the inclusion of the stupid little yellow rat that follows you around) Crystal= G&S Emerald= R&S See a trend? :P It's highly likely that Diamond and Pearl might 'suffer' the same fate- not that I really care that much, I was just pointing it out. So can we just drop this subject, be friends and get back on topic, please? Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: Toopz on June 23, 2006, 05:56:52 PM The main reason I didn't (and won't) get a micro is because, functionally, it's broken. The GBA (and GBA SP) can play all Gameboy games, whether they're the originals, gbc games, or gba games. The micro can only play GBA games. Yes, its screen is brighter, but the SP was also rereleased with a Micro equivalent bright screen. The only reason for a Micro would be for looks, but even then you're getting a GBA-only portable. Heck, the ds has the same functionality, since it can run GBA games also. I would either get an SP or a DS (then again...I have both :P).
Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: MetroidHunter on June 25, 2006, 08:09:20 PM I thought the SP couldn't play all of the past games? I've never tried it, but I thought that was the case. I know the GBA can but I wasn't sure about the SP.

Anywhooo, what's the screen on the Micro like when you are playing a game? Just a simple explanation would do. I'm just curious. Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: spawn on June 28, 2006, 08:55:48 PM its small :( im guessing
Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: MetroidHunter on June 28, 2006, 09:30:41 PM I played one at Wal-Mart and the screen is still large enough for anything. I thought it was a lot of fun, I would have got one just for convenience but it's not worth the price just for that.
Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: Marink on June 29, 2006, 03:00:42 PM Obviously, it is small. I want to know whether the screen is just as good as on the Gameboy Advance, if you know what I mean.
Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: MetroidHunter on June 29, 2006, 11:56:41 PM Oh, no it's much much better. It's got the same brightness levels as the DS Lite.
Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: Marink on June 30, 2006, 11:02:19 AM That sounds pretty cool. The screen for the Gameboy Advance is noticeably dark. Especially when compared to the DS. In fact, I have played my copy of FF Tactics Advance on my DS so much that it almost feels strange to play it on my GBA. That's why I try not to play many games on it. The more used to it I get, the more I do it, and the quicker the battery life is run down... :(
Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: MetroidHunter on June 30, 2006, 09:15:26 PM Yeah, that's why I play my GBA games on my DS. Just because the screen is better and shows the colors better. Does it really run the battery life down that much? I would figure it wouldn't run it down half as much as a regular DS game since it only uses one screen.
Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: Marink on July 01, 2006, 02:31:39 AM It does for me. I cannot explain why it does, as I am not entirely sure. I do know that the battery life is not run down nearly as quick with DS games as it is with GBA games. :?
Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: MetroidHunter on July 03, 2006, 04:20:31 PM Hmm, I've never really noticed that with mine. Maybe it's a problem with your system. I think mine runs much longer with a GBA game just because it only uses one screen.
Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: Marink on July 04, 2006, 10:28:58 AM I don't know, perhaps I'm just paranoid. I will continue to play the games on my GBA, though, just to be on the safe side.
Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: MetroidHunter on July 04, 2006, 10:52:31 AM Have any of you seen any cool faceplates for the Micro? I've only seen a few like a ladybug flower one and an army one.
Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: Marink on July 04, 2006, 11:21:41 AM I have seen quite a few, but my favorite Micro face is the NES one. So if I ever did get one(unlikely), I would just stick with that anyway. :)
Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: MetroidHunter on July 04, 2006, 12:44:06 PM Yeah, I've seen special edition ones and lots others online, but in the stores I've only seen a few.

Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: Vander on November 03, 2006, 05:57:51 PM Why do you need a Game Boy Micro when I can play GBA games on my SP, GBA, DS, and Game Boy Player?
Title: Re: Gameboy Micro Post by: MysticGohan on November 03, 2006, 08:05:37 PM i don't really think its worth it like the screen is tiny and can barley see anything i would rather play a gba over micro it sticks and is over priced :|
