Title: Can we talk about Mortal Kombat: Armageddon? Post by: iian on February 18, 2007, 11:54:38 PM Okay. I've never been a big Mortal Kombat fan. I don't dislike the game, I just never got into it. I have my copy reserved, however, mainly because I'm super intrigued by the MK Wii control scheme. From what you've heard/read/watched, what are your thoughts on Mortal Kombat: Armageddon? Are you a purist that hates the fact that the controls will be different? Have you never thought of playing MK until now? All observations, thoughts, rants, and diatribes are welcome.

Title: Re: Can we talk about Mortal Kombat: Armageddon? Post by: iimawii™ on February 19, 2007, 12:43:26 AM The only Mortal Kombat I was into was MK3 on Genesis. That's when I was really into fighting games knowing all the fatalities, babalities, animalities, etc. I haven't really been interested in MK coming to the Wii except thinking about playing as Scorpion; mostly because I'm afraid how the controller and I will want to adapt the the style of gameplay. I'm sure the game will look and feel good, but as far as myself not even wanting to rent/buy newer MK games, I will find myself unenthusiastic about wanting to try and master this version.
Title: Re: Can we talk about Mortal Kombat: Armageddon? Post by: Puff Daddy on February 19, 2007, 10:18:52 AM I think the complex control schemes that most MK games have has been sacarficed and it will be too simplistic to do moves now and because of that the game will be a watered down version of MK that any new player can master thus rendering the whole idea of MK (mastering its controls and every little button combination) will be dead. I think it might be fun on the Wii for the first five minutes, until you discover that every move can be done by a simply twist of the wrist and then it will feel repetative and way too easy.

That's a great observation. I can totally see how MK fans would/could be displeased by the watering-down of the game. It'll be interesting to see how the new control scheme tries to keep the the same level of play--maybe even raise it. Title: Re: Can we talk about Mortal Kombat: Armageddon? Post by: PsymonStark on February 19, 2007, 11:22:14 PM yeah, i hope that it's not TOO easy to master. and remember, you can make you're own character, fatalaty etc.. so that should be pretty interesting. after the last MK game (shaolin monks), i was a bit put off by the MK series, but this one looks good, because of the awesome line of characters as well as new stuff.

Agreed. Actually, I think that it could come with a whole new set of challenges. I mean, hitting a button combo is one thing. But matching movements with timing with buttons could be another. Either way, we shall see! Title: Re: Can we talk about Mortal Kombat: Armageddon? Post by: PsymonStark on February 19, 2007, 11:57:13 PM indeed we shall
Title: Re: Can we talk about Mortal Kombat: Armageddon? Post by: Alkemystical on February 21, 2007, 05:32:39 PM I never was a big fan of the MK series, so I'm a bit skeptical on this one. I may rent it because it does look pretty good, especially with the Wii controls.

I'm uninterested whatsoever in this because a lot of ports are just gross on the Wii. Original games are what will thrive on this console, not games that have already been out for months with a quicky control scheme. I'd be surprised if this game even sells well on the Wii, since many hardcore already have it and play with a joystick like in arcades. I'd really like another game like Teleroboxer (remember that old Virtual Boy game at all?) on the Wii. First-person robotic boxing with a unique set of controls. They've already seen what won't work in a boxing game with Wii Boxing, now they need to fiddle with what would work. Title: Re: Can we talk about Mortal Kombat: Armageddon? Post by: Dizzle on March 02, 2007, 09:00:19 AM I think the fatality change was the worst we were all use to putting the button combination and bam we would get all the diffrent fatalitys but oh well and by the way balisong i like the story on your sig
