Title: Wrestling Games of Old
Post by: FUHNAHTIK on April 15, 2007, 09:42:40 PM
Anyone know the best overall wrestling games of the older consoles? I remember a game - probably just called Wrestlemania ... that I just used to love, and rented constantly. I cannot remember wha it is though!

WCW vs. nWo for 64 is said to be the best. Of course, I never owned a 64....my first Nintendo console is the Wii. So, with that said, I want to tell you that there is a new game out for only $15 that helps preserve the old school 2D wrestling sprite action. Its called "Fire Pro Wrestling Returns." So if you got the little bit of money, and really am thirsty for old school wrestling, then I suggest to try the game. Its got everything from WWE kind of wrestling to UFC, boxing, MMA fights like Pride, cage matches, and deathmatches. Plus, 300+ wrestlers and 500 slots to create wrestlers. I created my favorite - Booker T, he does the spineroonie and everything in the game.

Yup! Thats it. Wcw vs NwO Revenge, I think it was, is considered to be the best wrestling game.

I'm not much for the new games lately. They tend to be the same thing over and over. And I see that the "new" wrestling games are seemingly taking the path of Madden. That is, that the wrestling game is essentially the same thing every year with updated roster. Now, I know Raw vs Smackdown 07 adds in that submission hold thing, but....Madden has added a few things as well, and it doesn't revolutionize the gameplay....it just makes it more complex and harder for someone (like me) who likes to be able pick up a game and play it. The games almost aren't games anymore....they're like a science.

Anyways, I still play my 1 wrestling game on the Genesis once in a great while. And like I said, Fire Pro Wrestling Returns for the PS2 for only $15 is a bargain and its a fairly good, yet challenging game.
