Ok, so today I took my DS (not Lite) out of my backpack, only to discover that one of the hinges had cracked. The DS is still fully functional, but the top screen is askew. Luckily, I still have the broken piece and it looks repairable, but I need your guys help. Do you think its time to retire my old DS and get a DS Lite? Or should I try fixing my DS?

Well, you should just get a Lite, seeing as they are much better than the original, but that's just my thought.

If you've purchased your DS within a year from now (You had to purchase it sometime after May 3rd 2006) you can send it in for repairs.

Ok, well then just wait and go with the Lite. You said it is functional, so I'm sure you can live with it for a month.

What I'm going to try to do is superglue the piece back onto the hinge and let it dry for 3 days, an see if it worked.

dood just upgrade the DS lite has a brighter screen, longer battery life, better design, lighter and the list goes on.. like just get the lit... the only reason for u not to get it is of u are saving up for something

My semi-gigantic (if you count 400-500 Dollars as gigantic) Paycheck doesn't come until June. ive got an idea on how to fix it, and Im going to ive it a shot and hope for the best. Even if it does work Ill probably end up getting a Lite. My DS is 2 yrs old...

I can make about $400 U.S. in about 2 weeks, but by working 80 hours, which is pretty bad.

I doubt I could pull it off. It wasn't my fault in the first place, and I have ethics. Its a good idea, but my DS is too old to be cvered by warranty.

I do absolutely nothing. Probably stock for 5 minutes every hour, sit behind the register, or just randomly walk around the store looking for something to do.

Yeah well here's the irony: good payment comes at a price. Lol. I had to get certified and sit through a 16 hour class, then take a hard 100 question test to pass. The class cost 45 bucks.

Ok. the job is: being a Soccer Ref (you may think that its easy, but try it right here right now and you'l see what I mean.) Im not sure aboot where you can apply for it: maybe at your local Rec center or something. You have to be 14 years old, and the class is 1 Friday 6-9 PM, Saturday 9-3 AM-PM, the Following Friday 6-9, and Sunday 1-4 for the test. Thats 15 hours if I counted right. You also, if you pass (minimum 75% score on the test) you have to order the uniform which is aboot 60 dollars. It pays itself off quickly. Remember, there are 10 weeks in a season, 2 seasons per year. I do 2 games a weekend, so thats 500 a season, 1000 a year. I ref 10 year olds, for 25/hr. Each year you'l have to re-certify (easy after 1st time) with a 50 question test. Cheers and good luck.

I would just try the glue to fix the hinge, if it ends up breaking again I would just play it like that until it breaks off the other side. So how much money do you make in a month? because 25/hr. is nice, but if you only work 16 hours a month $400 is not that much. My friend makes around $60 designing parts on a computer all day. With some over time, he brings home around $2,500 a week. If you make $400 a week and decide to get a DS Lite, here's what I would try. Super glue the hinge back, make sure it looks clean, take it up to gamestop and trade it in for a Lite. 99% of the time they don't look close enough at something like that, but if they do notice it, just say you bought it from the used and never altered anything  :-D .

I only make $500 a week, my bills consume most of my paychecks, and it's quite a physical job lifting around 80lbs. throughout an 8 hour day. $25 a hour for being a soccer ref is good, at least compared to a baseball ref, I did that when I was a bit younger and only made $10 per hour, but IMO it was worth it having fun during my "job".

if you got money to waste go for it but if your like me and your M>O>M nor D>A>D wont give you untill your alowest which is in a week and you have to look for a J>O>B that pays you less then minamum wage....THEN GET SOME DUCK TAPE AND FIX THAT SUCKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  P.S i wish i had a job

Nah. Ducktape wont work. How would I trade it in for a Lite? Lites are more expensive. My Pyacheckdoesnt comeuntill around June 20. It angers me. Plus Ive gotten used to the hing and semi-fixed it, so that it doesnt look askew when I play it and I don't really notice it. Im still probably going to get a DS Lite though.

Well aren't you just in luck? In the U.S., you can go to any EB Games or GameStop and trade in your DS for a $60 credit towards a DS Lite. Now I don't know if they'll accept yours or not, but hey, if they do, you can get a DS Lite for roughly $70 rather than the $129 regularly.

I might even trade in my unused DS for an Onyx DS Lite and give my old DS Lite to my sister. This, in my opinion, is an amazing deal. Let's just hope it wasn't a typo.

Yeah, I know. But seeing as all I do is sit all day, pretty much. The stores within the park are pretty small and usually stocked, so it takes about 10 minutes every few hours (or after a sale) to restock. There really isn't any "work" in it. I pretty much get payed for selling items and talking to customers.

I'm getting my first paycheck of the year tomorrow, and I've head that the park has raised their minimum wage (for some reason, they "can't afford" regular minimum wage of $7) to about a little over $6. I have no idea why they can't just pay minimum wage, seeing as the park is basically raking in the cash every day.

MY STUPID PARENTS won't let me borrow the money because they feel like being complete a**holes. I told them that the offer expires tomorrow but they won't listen. Im extremely pissed right now and are probably going to go yell at them...
