I'm not entirely sure that's the case. Maybe Everyone wants to wait until the 19th post shows up.

What the fudge? This site got awfully fancy.....so fancy that my crappy computer running on crappy dial-up cannot handle the sheer sex appeal. I am impressed. Very impressed. But at the same time, when I go home for break (like I did for Christmas)....no wii-vo for me. So sad.....well, good to see there is a prize give-away. I'm sure people will come back. Anyways, I'm in. And back....

Hur Hur Hur... I suppose I'm "in" also. Are your posts included in the count (well besides the first one, which I believe it isn't) or are you just trying to boost it up a little bit?

Who cares? As long as those games aren't going into some noob's grimmy hands. I can't complain....even if they end up in MB's personal collection because this topic doesn't get enough posts....which I think is odd....you'd think the contest would be over by now.

Meh, some people just can't read, apparently. Oh well, a better chance for us! (Or me....)

Haha....how about we split the prize? You know...share it every other week or so...?

As you can tell, I'm a uniter...not a divider.

I'm bored of this conversation.

How's 2008 going for you so far? Anything new?

I don't understand the huge excitement behind SSBB I mean they're cool games and good fun but people are making out like its the be all end all game :s personally I'm looking forward to Zack and Wiki (not released here yet) and Mario Kart heaps more!

Super Smash bros. Melee is one of the best selling video games of all time. With that much hype put into a previous game, the next game will likely get twice as much. I know there are other good Wii games, such as Mario Kart Wii, but in all-time Melee far exceeded Mario Kart's success. Therefore, more excitement for Super Smash Bros. Brawl than for Mario Kart Wii.

Meh, Melee wasn't that fun. As a matter o' fact, I never played it after the second time. (Note: I decided to preorder Brunout Paradise and not Brawl. Burnout is more appealing, and the next game I preorder will be GTAIV, and guess what, it's gonna be on/near February 22nd!

I still have my original copy. Sure, its six years old, but it's still fun to play. After all, i still haven't mastered Wave-Dashing and its something I'd like to do. Personally, I think most Burnout Games are the same, but I do notice that can be directly applied to Super Smash Bros. as well. I guess i'm more of a beat the krud out of animated 3D characters person than beat the krud out of other people's cars person.

Wow....this conversation changed fast. Well, I never preorder for the record. Preordering is a waste of time for me. And often, the Gamestop people are arrogant cocks that think if you don't preorder...you life ends when "insert game here" comes out. No....where I live, Target, Wal-Mart, or any other big store always has an ample supply of games and they are always available. The local Target by me has 3000 copies of Halo 3. It had Mario Galaxy on release date and never ran out. And Mario Party 8 which Gamestop told me would be sold out for two weeks, was available at Target on day one.

Sounds like the employees at your local GameStop are mentally challenged. They say Mario Party 8 was going to be sold out for weeks, eh? They should just die. I understand your point, considering where you live.

But in my case, there's only 2 stores where I can get games (withing a 15 minute radius). GameStop and Wal-Mart. They are both near each other, but I prefer Gamestop, mainly because they actually know what they are talking about at mine and I don't have to tell the people at Gamestop "I want Super Mario Galaxy" and then they are like "Huh?" until I point it out to them. I usually preorder for a bonus or if the game will sell out (such as Halo 3 or COD4 which both sold out here the day both stores got them in).

Ah well, different places, different stores, different people.

When you say preorder for a bonus...you mean you get something stupid like a Mario keychain with your copy of Mario Party 8, right?

I have to admit, I did think about preordering a few things so I could get one of those stupid little things with a game. Never did though.

I normally dont pre order either, just tried it this time because the price was obviously a mistake so I jumped on it and kept my fingers crossed

Hehe I always pre-ordered the Guild Wars games because when you do so you pay normal price for Collectors edition which gives you for example:

That chunky longer book is an art book which is full of the concept art all printed nicely. Buggered if I can remember what a lot of the other stuff is... Think theres a Soundtrack, Making of, Map, that Manuscripts book (full of Lore and such), and the little velvet bag had something... cant remember what.

Anyway I got all that before the game released for $100. I also pre-ordered Crysis to get the CE which comes with what they should have called an Art PAMPHLET not book  >:( but awesomely enough, a tin DVD case. And some other stuff but the art book is all I ever buy it for so it was lucky the cool tin case saved it..

Nah, that would be located under "schwag" for preorders. I, on the other hand, usually will preorder for in-game bonuses. With Burnout, you unlock the Steel Wheels car (very well armored, much needed) and such. But, like I said, I mainly preorder in case of it being like Halo 3 or COD4 and it most likely being sold out at both of my sources on day 1.

Got ya....

The only thing I could think of with preordering from a Gamestop was something stupid like a keychain. I think with Super Mario Galaxy, you got a stupid gold coin with a star on the front of it. But yeah, I can see the benefits of preordering for things like that.

But for whatever reason, I'm just not interested in that other stuff. Although, many of the games that offer these "bonuses," are also the games I'm not interested to begin with. A friend left me play Guild Wars off his account...that was fun, but it gets old rather fast. I find more interest in Runescape than Guild Wars for some reason. And Burnout is a racing games. Racing games aren't worth $50 to me....I play them, get to a certain spot where it gets real hard, stop, and never touch the game again. Yeah well...guess one day I'll learn, when I'm buying SSBB and some guy comes a knocking with his gun on my car's driverside window, as he politely gestures for my game.

Should try NFS:Carbon it doesn't get hard until the last race :P least you could say you finished it hehe

I have to agree with GW but you have to give it time. It took me 2 months to actually get into, other than that I would play it for an hour at most and be bored lifeless. But somewhere along the line a switch flicked and now I've played it over 3000 hours and own every expansion and have one of every character :) its just one of those games, not your traditional RPG which is addictive straight away because its basically virtual crack, but GW keeps me coming back just because its a good game and great to play. No addiction, no uber drops which need to be found to finish or get anywhere... its an MMO that has something for casual players and hardcore players alike. The only thing I got out of earning 1.5m gold was pretty looking armor and weapons. Someone with no money could get the same damage and stats from a collector without spending anything, just collecting some monster drops. Thats why its a great game, even casuals can mix it with the best.

I know Guild Wars is a nice game. And I'm sure GW2 will be even better. My problem with GW is that it gets boring because after some point, its all the same. Have they even broken the lvl 20 barrier yet? On top of that, the story is bland and just doesn't interest me. And like you said, casuals can get into it. And I don't mind if they do. But let me, someone, or anyone who wants to get better than everyone else do that. GW is like the communist economic system....everything is dictated by the state so that everyone gets the same benefits.

But I do know the PVP is fun in there. Thats all I played when I did play. My name was Major Blue Balls. I was a warrior/mesmer. People would laugh at me. Until they realized that if they charged me (like most idiots do), I'd hit them with various degeneration spells (I think one would poison them, and another to slow them down so they couldn't run away as easily) and then cut them so they would bleed and use an attack that would double if they were bleeding. Presto! Instant death. Thats the neat thing about GW is the classes and PVP.

But....couldn't get into it. Got old fast. Plus, the new ones they added....the dervish and what was the other fruity one.....yeah, those two classes were dumb. GW2 should be better....at least in theory, it should be much better. Like the GTA of MMOs.

Lmao yes you are right there GW is pretty much gaming communism but hey I play it because I like it :) I'm glad to find an MMO that isn't about grinding and addiction, its just fun. I do understand the many people saying they can't get into it.. some do some don't. Its always weird when some new person signs up to GWRealm and says "wow I just started and im already sooo addicted" I just don't get it! A lot of people are not that happy about GW2 because it sounds too much like WoW and the people who play GW don't want that, if they did they would play WoW!?

I'm skeptical about some things but I choose to give them the benefit of the doubt, I'm sure they know competing with WoW would be dumb. The level 20 cap which is reached relatively early on (depending on the game) was put in place so the game would rely more on the players skill than level and gear. Once you're 20 its all up to you to make the best out of the combination of ...buggered if I know how many skills now... theres so many combinations and nothing is locked in so you can do what you want. No need to grind your way to some unattainably high level. If you wish to be better than other players... well its probably pretty obvious to a lot of others that I'm doing quite well for myself in the game if they look at what my characters are wearing... and that theres 12 of them all wearing it. Then theres titles, they're pure showoff value. And getting them is a daunting task at times. None of the things you get to show off are luck though, you don't get some super drop you can lord over everyone else, you earn it. If you want to be better you have to work for it.

But hey I'm pretty biased when it comes to GW  ;D

I can answer you why I, personally, would never play WoW and the reason why so many people play Guild Wars to being with: its free.

I don't beleive in paying monthly for a game. I don't think its right. Its a game. It should be enjoyable. Now, since I know monthyl payments is slowly becoming more acceptable and probably will become part of gaming altogether....I will say the small payments are better. Like the $50 for Xbox Live. But WoW is what? $12 for a month. For the year....$144, almost three times Xbox Live...and only for one game. Live is for all games.

Much of what you say in the bottom half of the lvl cap and combinations is what makes the PVP great. And I have no problem in that. Maybe even WoW should impliment an arena where you can go and lvls would be equaled so that it becomes a whole new game. But really? After awhile of the same thing, the same lvl, and the same skills.....it gets old. Like I said, I was a warrior/mesmer just to mix things up. It worked for me but I was laughed at a lot. Whats the point of all these crazy combination and practically endless skill system...when so many people constrain themselves to the BTDT (been there, done that) form?

Games are full of uncreative douchebags so they often stick to cookie cutter builds. It happens in all RPG's. And yeah I wouldn't play WoW just because it costs money monthly. Its not a problem because I can't afford it, its a principle thing. That and after D2 I hated Blizzard.

I don't play GW because its free, so are all my FPS. But if it WASN'T free. I wouldn't play it either. It can be as good as it wants to be but until it starts making me coffee's and giving me massages I'm not going to pay a monthly fee for a game..
