I guess it all depends on what you want to do with your machine.  I used to play PC games - Quake, Black & White, Doom, etc.  but everytime you upgraded something, the games would stop working.
PC games are so temperamental and so most of the time I couldn't play them.

At least with a console, the only thing that are used for is games.  There's nothing conflicting with the hardward or software it has.  So unless the maching is broken, the games play all the time.
Much less annoying  :-)
