Just an idea, but was thinking, why not cut down the amount of different forums that you can post in, so instead of having like 4 different forums for the Wii, why not just have one, or two. There are a lot of different forums to post in, could be confusing to some users, this way it would keep everything together more, and have most people posting in the same place.

I'm thinking, keep the Wii-volution related forums the same, same for Off Topic, but trim down the other forums, to something like this (Note: all these would be in there own section, like Off topic or Wii-vo related):

Nintendo

Nintendo Wii
Hardware, Software, Gamechat and General chat about the Nintendo Wii
Nintendo Wii help
Got Wii questions, get Wii answer's, Wi-fi, Wii channels, misc etc..

Nintendo DS
Hardware, Software, Gamechat and General chat about the Nintendo DS
Nintendo DS help
Any DS questions, Wi-fi, online, misc etc..

Anything and everything Nintendo
Discuss NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, GBA and others

Don't know if you we're to do this, but I'm assuming you would lose posts from the other forums that would be disconntinued.

Just an idea, hope all is cool.  :-)

My only issue with this is that we'll have thousands and thousands of posts in very few forums, but if it's the general will of the public here, then we'll do it. What do you guys think?

I say that we wait until Wii is out and people begin playing games. Only by this time we will know what's better to do with the forums. But they need a re-organizing, that's for sure! Wink

There will be a lot of people posting in the same forum, but means instead of posting in different forums, you'll have like a Main Wii forum then a Wii help forum. This way, although a larger amount of posting will occour in one forum, it keeps everyone together a bit more, and it's more unified.

If you don't like it, no worries. But yeah can wait and see what happens when the Wii is out and florishing.

I was going to suggest this, but I found this topic first so I'll just add my voice to the "fewer forums" argument. I don't know if I'd break the forums down exactly as proposed; for example, I think you still need a Lounge area. Every message board needs a lounge area. But I think a lot of the different forums could easily be combined, for example, just about everything under the heading "Wii-volution Related." I'd divide the Off Topic stuff into the Lounge, which would include all computer topics and forum games, since those are only a handful of threads, and then keep creative seperate.

If you scroll down the main list of forums and see just how few topics are in some of the sub categories, it'll give you some ideas of what can be consolidated by merging into other forums.

Often, boards that start out with very concise forums will expand as needed, but boards that start out with too many often have problems with members connecting since everybody spends time in a different section. Better to start small; I think you'll probably get more traffic if everybody's hanging out together in a few carefully designated forums.
