Article: Nintendo Wanted a $100 Wii

"Veteran game designer Shigeru Miyamoto tells BusinessWeek that the original plan was for a super-cheap console ... The designer said the $100 mark was his original goal for the Wii, but said that  using NAND flash memory to store data, and incorporating other "pricey parts"  torpedoed that idea."
Maybe this is the reason for all the early estimates pricing the console in the $100 to $150 range?

man, it would be even harder to find. sure theyd be able to make more, but hundredsX more people could afford it!

What I would say to Big N is "Stop talking about it". It was their choice to put it at this price and to me every apology they give us sounds like sh*t. They wanted a bigger profit, we respect that, but please, please, stop telling us you were forced...

not really if they made it $100 there would bo no internal flash drive and no wireless it would suck with $100 you cant make to kool good wii that we are getting today at 12:00am or tomorrow at 9:00A.m

Damn, I wish it was only $100.  Then I wouldn't have to wait for Christmas to play the new perfect Zelda game.
