I don’t know where I read or heard this back when the Wii was first being announced; I heard that Nintendo will use the DS as a controller for the Wii, kind of like what they did with the GC and the GBA.

I thing that would be great for certain title to use the touch screen & mic of the DS.  For example: Madden, chose your plays on a private screen.  MMO & First person Games, Select inventory with the touch screen and communicate by mic (hopefully when online gaming is up and running). And the use can be endless.

My inquiry is has there actually been any planning for DS and Wii function, and if so what. And if this sounds good to you what would you like your DS do for your Wii

Well Pokemon Battle Revolution will use DS to Wii connectivity. You can transfer any Pokemon from Pokemon Diamond or Pearl to play in the game, either multiplayer or singleplayer, and you can use the DS's touch screen to choose your attacks during a battle in PBR.

I like the idea of being able to chose plays on Madden through the DS, I always hated playing multiplayer and my friend saw what I chose and picked a perfect play to stop it. Typing communication would also be nicely handled through the DS, but mic communication should be handled in a standalone microphone.

Nintendo has been trying this for years now...

They may be able to pull it off because of the wireless technology.

I am considering buying a DS to catch up on some FF remakes. I'm not sure if I want to take my Wii to stay on campus or not. I stayed home last semester.

If I had a DS and the functionality was there.. i'd try it, but it would have to be worth it.

It would be great for something like the new Mario party to integrate some Mini games with the ds. That way people are not required to play the game but still show the function to people who do have it in hand.
