Hi I have just purchased a Wii console and I am currently experiencing an issue with the controller.

When I turn the Wii console 'ON' everything visually appears to be fine on the TV screen.
Whenever I press any button on the controller, the 4 LED's at the bottom of the controller flash for around 3 or 4 seconds and nothing happens. I can't use the controller.

What does this mean and how do I recover from this?
I have tried another set of batteries (nearly new) but I get the same issue. Has anyone else ever experienced this.
I only got the console yesterday and everything was working fine until a few hours ago.

I can't find any explanation in the instruction manual.

Did you try syncing the controller with the console? there is a sync button next to the SD card slot on the wii and a sync button on the back of the wii remote behind the cover. I believe you need to press the wii's sync button, then press the wii remotes sync button to connect the controllers to the console. Let me know if that works for you.

I recently had a problem similar to this. I tried syncing and just pressing buttons, but nothing happened except the blinking lights on the controller.

I then tried unplugging the actual system's power supply and plugging it back it. Then, once the red light on the system came on, I turned on the system, pressed a button on the controller, and it synced back up again.

If syncing your controller doesn't work, try the method I described above.

All sorted now...............it was infact a syncing problem.

It was just my 'newness' to the console that was causing my confusion.
I don't know how it managed to lose the original sync though but anyway I now know how to corret the problem.

Thanks for the help.

For using a Wiimote for the first time on ANY Wii Console, you will have to do the first sync by pressing the 2 red sync buttons. I had to as well.
