It is no longer a rumor, Smash Bros. Brawl is officially delayed in both USA and Japan. In the USA, Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been delayed until March 9th 2008. In Japan It has been delayed only a week until January 31st 2008. I think that they delayed it in Japan to make us feel a little better. Is this a surprise to most Smash fans? Most likely not. Here is a direct quote from the Dojo.

Pardon my language, but this game can kiss my ***. I'm sick of hearing this developmental bullcrap saying "Oh, we're really sorry, you just have to hold on a little longer." If they were going to delay the game on both ends, which I know they would to have had to have finished in Japan by now, they should have given them an equal setback.

Most games are pushed back. All big titles usually have this. Metal Gear Solid 4 was suppose to hit sometime last year. Now its suppose to hit Q1 this year. Now it might not hit till Q2 or 3....but the development team is saying they are close to finish. Halo 3 had the same problems too.

Basically, all high profile sequels seem to hit turbulence. They have high expectations. And because of these high expectations, developers want to overdo everything. And in return, they overextend themselves. They think they can get this done by a certain date, but since they want to put in so much to be so much better than the title before they end up needing more time.

I think this is whats happening with SSBB. It sucks....but oh well. There are plenty of other Wii games for now.

Exactly. You could easily replace "Wii" in that sentence and put in any other console (maybe not PS3, but meh). The 360 has games such as Burnout and Devil May Cry 4, the Wii has No More Heroes and the not-so-appealing-to-everyone Endless Ocean (which can be fun in certain ways). The PS3 also has Burnout, DMC4, and Turok (I believe it is on 360 also), so you've got plenty of games to choose from, if your a PSWii or Wii60 or even PS360 fan or even just one of the three major consoles fan.

There's plenty of games to hold you over, or maybe just go outside! (Not that I do such a crazy thing, but it is possible!)

Not really caring much about this game. I cannot understand the hype surrounding it, unless its a completely different game to the previous two... can't see much room for making it that great.

It did get a perfect score in Famitsu though which is a pretty serious achievement so maybe I will be surprised.

As a fan of Rare, Valve and EAD games I'm rather accustomed to delays. Perfect Dark was the worst. Never wanted a game that much and the damned thing had such a HUGE delay...

Ah, Valve. So, are you ready for Episode 3 to come out in 2018?  Wink

Anyway, I'm also not too interested in this game. Like I said, I was never really into the first two. One of the only reasons I'd get it is for the online play, but as you all know, they fucked it up horribly. Unless this delay is to put on their new service (which is most likely not going to happen), I'm not getting this game until it drops to $20 or I just get bored of what I have (most likely, the first considering GTA IV comes out either March or April)
