Nintendo Power: Mario Kart Wii Info Blowout PDF Print E-mail

ImageIn the newest issue of Nintendo Power, April 2008 v. 227, Chris Slate went hands-on with the game. Three interesting topics inside the 10-page article are the list of tracks in the first two cups of both the new and retro tracks, the list of items, and the list of characters.

Here is the list of tracks and their description:

New Courses

Mushroom Cup:
Luigui Circuit - A great all-around starter track. Drifting through the boost pads banked aroudn the final turn is a rush!
Moo Moo Meadows - Lots of winding offroad drifting, complicated by groups of cows that slowly wander across the rack.
Mushroom Gorge - Bouncing and pulling tricks off the red mushrooms is crazy fun, but it's tricky to keep your car out of the chasms.
Toad's Factory - Drive over conveyor belts, through mud, and across moving platforms in one of the trickiest new courses.

Flower Cup:
Mario Circuit - A short track with a great straightaway for wheelies, a testy Chain Chomp, and a very long drift to the finish line.
Coconut Mall - Multiple paths, wide-open spaces, and moving escalators. Darting cars in the parking lot can lead to major road rage.
DK Summit - A challenging downhill course with a long series of halfpip-style boost ramps for tricking over heavy snow banks.
Wario's Gold Mine - A punishing roller coaster ride with a few guardrails to keep you on course after plentiful boost opportnities.

Retro Courses

Shell Cup
:
GCN Peach Beach - No more pipe launch near the start, but a new boost ramp leads into the old shortcut after the first turn.
DS Yoshi Falls - The exact same as on the DS, only the second bridge is now a great spot to catch some air and trick for a Mini-Turbo.
SNES Ghost Valley 2 - Parts of the guard walls fall away as you bump them, making the track tougher as the race goes on.
N64 Mario Raceway - A back-to-basics drifter's paradise with a single ramp perfectly placed for a shortcut across the grass.

Banana Cup:
N64 Sherbet Land - This classic-made of a slippery surface, belly-sliding penguins, and sharp turns-isalmost entirely unchanged.
GBA Shy Guy Beach - Tough off-road drifting, slowing patches of grass and water, and crossing crabs make for a difficult race.
DS Delfino Square - Drifting around the fountain quickly charges a stage 2 Mini-Turbo, and the drawbridge is great for big-air tricks.
GCN Waluigi Stadium - The plentiful bumps and hills-plus new halfpipe boost pads-make this the best track for tricks.
